Needs work.

The idea behind this game is agood one. Classic Offroad(NES/Arcade game) style, top down racing with combat in mind. This game suffers from poor balancing. You have no chance at winning your first race unless your lucky enough to hit a speed bonus. Buy yourself an engine upgrade after 2-3 races and you can easily win first place. The combat is not well designed either. I shot the car in front of me for 3 laps and the race was over, with no satisfying explosions. This game is far from a total loss, but in it current state it is definatly not worth $20.

Honestly?... Very Addicting.

My boyfriend & I have always been loyal fans of 3d games, we like action shooters, hard-core racing, blasting, & basically games that pump up the adrenaline and make us "experience the power".

Mad Cars was a game we thought fit into the category, but realized (after playing) that this was not remotely so. The unsophisticated look of the game made no impact to us whatsoever but ironic as it may seem, whatever this game has, it's got us addicted.
Quite a surprise considering the fact that our first impression of this game wasn't at all great. I had high expectations that I felt was not met or satisfied when I first tried this game out. My search for granduer fell short, but I found something much better than what I thought I wanted.

The graphics were a disappointment to me at first glance. The cars were really small, & even almost comedic. The whole sight of it was fascinating. There wasn't anything mighty about the little things, they looked like toys being driven around by ants & the top view during a race made it worse. Watching tiny cars race (almost as if in slow motion) was not exactly the bomb. I figured I've discovered the reason behind why the cars were being reffered to as "mad".

The sound was perfect, not anything special, just something you don't get annoyed with after hours of playing which is a big deal & a very important factor to pc games like these. Not fancy, not intimidating, but just right.

The gameplay. It was my boyfriend who insisted on playing the game further, despite my defiance, & so he went on controlling our little car with the arrow keys & buying upgrades. Who would have guessed that after minutes of play we'd be hooked?
The difficulty is great, as you move on from being a novice it gets harder & the challenge is awesome. You might not be aware, but along the way you get new cars that upgrade better & the fun is just priceless.

You need to try the game to love it.
