Rival Ball Tournament

Even though I have a couple of reservations about this game, I really like it. The graphics are great, if a little dark on some of the boards.
The sound is great, although there isn't any music to speak of. Having an option to hear music would really make this game rock.
The gameplay itself is outstanding, but missing a couple of things. One, the paddle could use some contour to it, just to give a little more control of where the ball goes. Without the lasersight power-up, it's hard to judge where the ball should strike the paddle. In addition to that point, in human vs pc, the pc opponent rarely misses what it is aiming at, and knows EXACTLY where to position itself as soon as you release the ball, taking into account rebounds off of objects in the balls way. Also, several boards in each arena pack are one-sided boards, meaning one opponent has a load of unbreakables in their face, while the other opponent has easy access to the breakables. It certainly tips the odds in one opponents favor, while the other is left to depend on a whole lot of luck. This is a game of skill, and the boards should be arranged as such. It's hard to plan shots when you have 6 gold faces an inch above your paddle, and your opponent has none. I'm not sure if online play is any different, although I imagine the same boards are used online as in campaign mode.
Which brings me to my last point. I've tried to join a game several times over a 4-day weekend, but there was never anyone around. While that really isn't too much of a problem, since you can host your own game, if you're looking for a multiplayer game with a server full of people just dying to paddle your can into dust, this may not be the game to purchase.
Overall, this is a great game. While it may sound like I picked it to death, I don't regret a single penny paid. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves slamming balls into breakables, with the added fun of actually trying to beat an opponent, instead of just high score

Breakout + Pong = RBT

Rival Ball Tournament probably contains the best concept for a casual game that I've seen in the past year. If you're competitive, and you like Breakout games, then this game is perfect for you. I could write a 10 page review on how fun this game is, but it wouldn't be worth it. I can get the exact same point across by simply telling you that you will LOVE this game if you have any interest in taking your Breakout skills up against another oppononent. Picture a breakout game mixed with Pong, add the ability to play multiplayer, some cool graphics, jammin' music, and creative powerups, and the end result is called Rival Ball Tournament. Do yourself a favor and give this game a try. You won't be sorry.
