Not terrible, but not nothing to spend your money on

I play chess on a regular basis but I would still call myself an average player. I am always interested in new and different chess programs, particularly ones that have good instruction modes. (this one doesnt, but i downloaded it anyway)

I downloaded this to give it a try and started a game on hard mode. The first thing that threw me off was how long it was taking to make the first move (about a minute and 45 seconds!). You will find that you spend a LOT of time waiting with this engine which is probably why they give you so much trial time with the demo. It beat me pretty handily, but I wouldn't call it a fun experience as it got pretty old waiting a few minutes then making my move instantly as I had already had it ready to go.

Sound is pretty much non-existant and I immediately turned the music off as it was annoying right away.

Overall nothing really groundbreaking here. Its a simplistic chess game and doesnt offer nearly the feature set that something like Chessmaster does. If you are going to spend any money at all on a computer chess program, just spend a bit more on Chessmaster and you will have everything you need and then some.
