It can't get any cooler for Battleship!
Oh, man! Battleship...wait a second...Battleship with torpedo's, radar scans, bomber planes, and other options!? HOLY COW!
Exactly what I thought. This game really does have some great minds behind its design. A very well thought out follow through of a new age modification of Battleship. Oh, don't forget though...at any time you could play the traditional Battleship...but, I'm sure after one game you won't want to!!!
The sound's are nice and not too extreme. The graphics are sufficient, and not overdone with lame special effects. Yes, you ships will burn if they get hit. Yes, you will see the torpedo dart through the water. Yes, you will be entertained!
I must say, the game would be utterly perfect if not for one thing: You can't play your friend!
Sadly folks...there is not LAN support for a game a sweet as this. I'm sure the designers were thinking if someone plays on the same screen, they'll see where their opponents ships are...and where is the fun in closing your eyes every couple of seconds, or turning your back to the screen? But why no LAN support I ask?! I'd honestly buy this game for all of my family members if it had LAN support, and we could play each other. An intense strategy game could be had with a human player using the Fleet Command settings! Please designers, make a part two with LAN support! |

Do you like minesweeper and mysteries?
This game is a skillful balance of a mystery novel with many turns and Microsoft Minesweeper. That may not sound like fun to someone like me...I don't like minesweeper...but I'll tell you friend, I was suprised on how much I did not want to stop playing this game. The story line is appealing, and the gameplay is fun. Try out this game, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
I can't vouch for the replayability, but I'm sure there isn't much...I can say one really good thing though. If you "die" and have to restart clearing a room of traps, most of the trap positions do change. There are some constant ones, but most do change.
Can you solve the mystery? |

Minus the hickups, it's a great game!
Well, I've never liked bowling games...heck, I barely ever bowl in real life! My friend asked me to try the game because he was having graphical errors on his Windows XP laptop with this game. The text was outside the speech bubble. I tried the game and immediately got addicted.
The gameplay is fun and amusing. I would certainly recommend this game. I would say try the demo to see if you have any graphical or "freeze up" related issues which both my friend and I had. I was able to fix mine by putting the shortcut for the game into the Windows 98 Compatibility Mode. The game does not "hick-up" except now...it would occasionally sit idle and not respond for about 5-10 seconds, but the compatibility mode fixed that. The game can be challenging and you should pay no attention to how the other players are ranked. I feel as though the rank had little to do with how well the opposition bowled. I sound a little critical of the games engine and AI, but I'm telling you: THIS GAME DOES ENTERTAIN!
The "chattiness" that others complain about wasn't a big deal...actually, the characters often offer you various deals/bets/bargains/challenges where you can make some extra cash, get a different bowling ball or a "power-up" (which are really cool).
Try the game...even if you don't like bowling sims...it's challenges, goals, and gameplay won't leave you empty handed. I recommend this game! |
