Very good
A very nicely polished piece of hunt and seek gameplay. The interface is smooth, shiny, and snappy with lots of love paid to the features and artwork. The hunt and seek style puzzles are nicely built right into the scenes and other special puzzle modes provide nice variety. Some of the unique puzzles are a bit annoying in that they dont provide enough information in order to solve them without checking the hint or mindless trial and error to check for every possible solution within the limited information you are given.
The scrolling scenes (which are an excellent addition) are slighly hitchy in that you can see the dynamic elements of the scene jostle back and forth as they find the right pixel to settle on while the scrolling comes to a stop.
But overall the sound is great, voices are great, artwork is great, gameplay is great. If only I liked to play hunt and seek games I would definitely add this to my library. I personally only play them about about 15 minutes and then get bored of the gameplay. |

Terrible
The screenshots of this game are what brought me to download it and check it out. It actually has a snappy look to the graphics and I was hoping for some mindless WWII fun. But as soon as you start the game up and play for about 5 seconds you will face the terrible gameplay that is Naval Strike.
The connection between controlling your plane and the animation that ensues is completely disconnected and broken into some kind of snap frame screen positional system that I cant even begin to understand.
I am normally very lenient toward games on this site, but this one I truly cannot understand what the developers were thinking. |

Definitely download the demo first
There are a great many shooter games out there to play and Air Assault falls into the category of those you should skip.
The lack of compelling gameplay in this title is truly astounding. Its a simple shooter with 2 weapons. Guns and Missiles are your tools of destruction and there isnt much to discover in them other than minor upgrades.
After playing about 3 or 4 levels you soon realize that the game is failing to offer you anything new to do. Not even so much as a basic boss fight will present itself along the way. I played through long enough to advance to the winter stage (where the scrolling background turns from green to white) and decided to call it quits.
Honestly this game feels more like a college project being submitting to a game studio as part of an application portfolio. Its technically complete, and demonstrates some basic shooter game mechanics. But as a commercial product, it really feels like someone just didnt try hard enough to create a competitive title.
If you like shooters, its something you might download the demo for just to see how a game should not be made. |

Fantastically refreshing
It is always great to see some new gameplay and inventiveness in the casual market and I am always keeping my eye out for such creativity.
This game is a really refreshing and well polished variation of the old deer hunter style scroll and click. Where deer hunter failed to deliver much in terms of variety or skill in working the mouse, Snapshot provides many avenues for skill, growth, and still maintains the pleasant and peaceful feel of sitting in the woods and taking "shots" at things.
They included some of the later features as well such as equipment that requires you to make decisions before each session. And the functionality of those items is much more creative than those you would find in the old Deer Hunter games.
The end of session photo selection process adds even more complexity and depth to an otherwise simple game allowing you to learn by experience how best to take your shots and crank up your ratings. It turns the gameplay from a simple point and click challenge into a more involving "quality of click" expression of skill.
As you discover all the little details that were added and the hundreds of unique birds, complete with their actual birdcalls, you will really come to appreciate the design and effort that went into it. Add to that the ability to create your own unique birds and track their photographic prevalence on the internet of other owners, and this is an amazingly fresh and creative product.
All in all this is definately a pleasant and well polished game well worth the money. Any bird or wildlife enthusiast will appreciate it, and any casual gamer will love it. |

Original and awesome!
I actually purchased a copy of this quite a while ago from the developers but I am really happy to see it make an appearance here on Reflexive!
This is one of those games that stands out as truly original, creatively innovative, and a blast to play! (no pun intended).
I wasnt so hot on the tetris style game mode, but the puzzle mode really shines. It takes some real enginuity to get through them and the challenge provides an approach that is unlike any puzzle game you have played.
The 2d physics simulation engine is superb and its the backbone of the gameplay.
Anyway... just wanted to drop in and highly recommend this to you all. |
