Excellent Escapism
Its true, this game has the same base gaming function as others like Luxor and Atlantis, but that’s where the similarity ends. I have played several demo versions of similar genres but this for me is the best to date, Why?. Well for one thing the 3D graphics and scenery are absolutely enchanting, with oodles of detail and charm which really take you into Buka's world. Who's Buka, well he's the adorable character who bravely and single handed does all the shooting( with a little help from us)and what a personality- whether he's shaking his maracas in celebration of a win in the classic mode, or banging his drum in Legendary mode, in his army colouring, he's a real top gun!. The music is captivating and relaxing, with occassional little military themes and sounds. It doesnt distract from play but compliments the action and stunning visual effects.
What’s extra special about this is that the power ups can be caught and used immediately or saved and selected from the bar at the base of the battle scene. Such weapons as total nuclear annihilation, cannon, gattlin’ gun, pistols, are a real change from the usual multicolour ball and fire balls alone- but these and lightning are also included.
As you work through ever increasingly difficult levels, you must beat a whirlpool/spiralling type level to free a butterfly and move to the next level, adding the liberated butterfly to your Butterfly Book- you must also catch bonus stars for extra lives- nice touch. This is one for all ages young kids and big ones like me.
The added bonus of a tournament mode is great as you can pit your skills against high scores via the internet connection, this gives yet more playability and game value. Beautifully crafted by the developers, anyone who liked Pigs of War and Worms PC/Play station games will like the guns and weapons effects as they are a little reminiscent of those games- Go on now and try it, you know you want to- I'm hooked anyway.- Mirluki |

Fizztastic Fun !
I've played a couple of brick busting games and frankly became quite bored along the way. So to find this really innovative and different game is great. If it looks naive at first believe me its challenging and so good value game play.
The animations are colourful, cute and well thought out. The story line is simple but really comes to life as you play, you worry if the animals in the sanctuary are getting enough food-so you need to try hard to collect the cash needed to feed them. Collecting the cash is real fun. You either catch bags of money held aloft by balloons or roll your Fizz ball over cash on the ground after you bulldoze and smash the barrels and packing crates.
You move from island to island rescuing different animals by scooping them up in your ever growing Fizz ball. You encounter trials such as thunder and lightning, Martian attack and drums of nuclear waste which you must not hit.
There are rafts of power ups suspended on balloons, extra Fizz balls, fans to blow the Fizz ball whilst in play,a zapping beam and the regular ones like sticky bumper and slow and fast ball. The music and sound effects are inspired, from storm sounds and animal interactions to the upbeat theme tune- the whole thing is a delight to the eyes and ears and the game play as I've said is Fizztastic Fun.
I played the regular mode in the demo and made it to chapter two or the second Island. There's also the bonus of a children’s mode with an animal sounds puzzle included, so heh! you could even get away with explaining how you bought this one FOR THE KIDS!!. I've got to buy it so I can get to the end- try the demo yourself- you wont be able to resist buying it-go on see if I’m right?.- Mirluki |

Strategy Gold
I've only played the demo,so I cant comment on the full game, but what I played was enjoyable and just a little different. The graphics are colourful++ and the music though the same throughout ( in the demo sequence anyway) is catchy and evocative of inca/peru culture. The way the game play is set you get a real feel of progression towards the goal of the game which keeps your attention and interest focused.
Interesting power ups and just when your thinking this is getting a bit samey, oops up come new elements to the game in the form of large disc tokens which need to placed in contact with a disc of the same colour to remove them- don't know if other new features appear as you progress through the full game, but its made me wonder enough to think about purchasing this game when I next decide to add to my games collection. All in all relaxing and imagination catching addition to this genre of game. Nice one- see what you think.- Mirluki. |

Matchical !!
The usual match three genre are no competition for this outstandingly well designed game.
As you might guess I love this little work of art. I guess you will too if you want to give your brain a post xmas strategy workout...............!
The theme is the tale of Odysseus fighting to return home too the island of Ithica. You match tiles to move our hero Odysseus onward on his journey, from wherever he starts on the grid to the exit door. Sound easy? . Well, match three and watch those tiles shift erratically and unpredictably, you may think you’ll go forward but back you!
Its all wrapped up in beautifully illustrated graphics with many chapters, each progressively harder. Ancient maps to follow as you play. Enhanced with power ups and keys to collect along the way to the exit. These include bombs, extra time, any switch power, remove all like tiles etc.
The tile designs change with each chapter, including ocean themes with crashing waves and shells and the dark underworld with skulls, blazing fires and spears . Colours are rich and designs detailed and varied. The music is enigmatic and really sets a mythical and adventurous mood. It is reminiscent of something I played years ago on PS but I cant for the life of me think what, maybe Zelda, who knows, but its good. As an extra touch there are captivating tile sounds which change with each design, splashing waves, animal sounds, clashing metal, smashing clay.
First couple of levels aren’t to taxing but that’s great as it allows you to pick up the strategy. The more you play on the more you need to think ,plan and be quick about it- you only have so long to complete each stage as a golden time line endlessly slips away!.
All of these ingredients make a really enjoyable, good value game. If you like match three and strategy this will have you hooked in no time- go see for yourself- Mirluki |

Indjinneous Genius
For me this certainly Matches ! the original.
The new Arabian theme and music add true atmosphere for me, I cant decide if the music actually changes with each stage of the quest but it appears to in the demo- maybe its the ever changing graphics that keep it fresh.
The graphics are stunning and detailed- from shifing sands and palm leaves swaying the wind to a magically smoking lamp a lovely Peacock displaying its beautiful tail.
Althought the basic game play of matching items is the same- different modifiers have been added, tornados, orbs which create switch backs of lines of items, low potion warnings, medals and more, all of which,I find, create a greater challenge to forward planning and strategy.
The bouus games vary throughout the demo and I presume the full version game- what's great is that these can be accessed and played, whenever, in the bonus game mode.
The singing minstrel is still apparent between stages, I quite like trying to work out where I've heard the melody to his songs before, whilst still hoping he hasn't given up his regular job!!!.
Giggles is still there, I find him just a little distrubing, freaky and not really necessary, but hey you cant have everything and you can still turn his voice off-as in the original game- thankfully. The main aim of the game- is to change Giggles back from his current state of Djinn.
Still, with the Giggles and singing Minstrel moans out of the way, I will definately be buying the full version. Why?, well, even with these two less desirable elements, for me the developers have used their genius to give us more of the same enjoyable game play, with extra challenge, all wrapped up in a gorgeously presented package, and I liked it.
If you havn't played the first Magic Match then do, but dont miss out on this sequel. In my view it surpasses the original-see what you think-Mirluki |
