Strangely compelling
I have about two-dozen of the latest PC games which cost me around $40 each, so why am I somehow attracted to playing this game all the time?
Probably because playing something down-to-earth and straightforwards as Flip or Flop is a good diversion from all that city-building-and-management, saving-the-world, winning-important-races and finding-another-amulet type grind that you almost always find in games that cost twice the price.
Are there better looking and better sounding shareware games? Sure there are? Are there shareware games with better gameplay? Probably. But I can't help but have 'just one more go'.
Now if only I wasn't jobless and broke I'd buy it! |

Ok but I expected something different
While the presentation, graphics and sound are all to a good standard, I was a bit disappointed to find it was just a souped up version of Puzzle Express. Not that there's anything wrong with the gameplay - a compelling cross between tetris and a... well.. jigsaw puzzle I guess - but being a game released nearly 2 years afterwards, I'd have expected more changes in the gameplay.
If you haven't played Puzzle Express then give this a go - it looks and sounds better. If you've played Puzzle Express then there's probably not enough new material here for you. |

Hmmmmm.....
There's a great idea under the bonnet (sort of a cross between Brickshooter and.... er.... something else) but it's spoilt by poor gameplay mechanics, bad graphics and terrible sound.
It's barely playable and not in th least bit enjoyable unfortunately. |

One-of-a-kind-puzzler. We can only hope..
Quite how this game is so popular is beyond me. While it may appeal to the very casual players out there, anyone with a reasonable background in playing various shareware puzzlers will be left scratching their heads in bewilderment after playing 10 minutes. One part of the game involves clicking on objects, the second part involves rearranging a picture. It seems so popular, even being amongst Avault's Shareware Games of the Year for 2005. Personally I don't see what the fuss is about. Give it a try and judge it for yourself - but I found it one of the shallowest gameplay experiences ever. |
