Hammer Horror reborn
Well, I think you must have to be a certain age to appreciate the tongue in cheek humour in this game.
Picture Boris Karloff lurking somewhere in the background and you've got it. The sound effects are well thought out with crackling fires, and yes - those blood curdling screams enticing you to hurry up and find poor Janet.
The game is set in Frankenstein's castle where it is naturally dark and gloomy. Each level attained gives access to another room, and you can wander around at will.
I too used an awful lot of hints to find things but I hate it when a game turns into a 'point and click' object collection - after all it is a Hidden Object game. In any case, the hint button recharges really quickly and there is no timer.
The zoom feature is brilliant and, unlike most, the graphics become much clearer when turned on ... and for anyone reading the previous reviews concerning the bottles - use it when you are looking for them. They are all in logical places. Some are hidden behind others but look for the cork.
The game has a downside and that is that I felt that, after one hour and only an arm and a leg to find I had nearly finished and will not buy the full version without some idea of length of play.
Overall the game is real entertainment, but not for the children I don't think. |

Don't be fooled by fairyland
Wonderful graphics, excellent soundtrack and all round a brilliant match 3 from the start. Yes there are no minigames and the timer isn't really a challenge but for me that's good.
A mixture between Season Match (graphics); Fruit Lockers (bubble) and Call of Atlantis (drop the bonus)with the shopping element of Cradle of Rome and Fishdom...
Loved it and found it very playable. |

Scary, ghostly and one for Hallowe'en
Guided round the town by the ghosts of the characters this is a scary game, not for the nervous, but could be fun over the holiday weekend played as a family, in the dark !!! Not for young children maybe.
The story is captivating (Bodie actually exists as a ghost town), graphics are sharp, objects are well hidden but are where they should be (which in my view makes them harder to find). The interval puzzles have so far been the same so after three the surprise element has gone but nevertheless they are really difficult to do and will preumably get harder too. Only three hints for the hidden objects and the only way to gain more is to pick flies from the building before entering - yukky - but there is also no timer so there is no hurry. Overall this is an original game and I would guess that the demo doesn't do it justice as it was getting more involved when the hour ran out. |

Curiosity kept me going
This is a lovely game, with excellent graphics and sound to suit the environment.
You (the princess)are being guided around the palace by a fairy. She gains abilities as you progress and thus you have 'weapons' to use in your battle to lift the curse of evil placed on the palace by an evil witch. With a map to follow it is necessary to leave some of the rooms to continue the search and then to navigate your way back to fix whatever it is or solve a puzzle. I imagine that later in the game it gets quite complicated.
I appreciate the fact that the objects are all items that are needed to repair something or other and are also not hidden in unlikely places.
I didn't like scouring the hunting pictures for 'evil' items as the pictures themselves are quite gruesome (to me anyway), but it doesn't last long and was soon forgotten.
Overall, an easy-going game for children and adults alike. Not really a challenge so far but full of variety and interest.
I played the hour and wanted to go on - especially as I needed more marbles to load my Zuma puzzle game - and look forward to playing the full version. |

More than a Hidden Object game
I have just finished the demo of this game and wanted to play on. The objects are well hidden in the scenes and are not always straightforward eg: Frame the picture - meaning find a picture and put it in the frame.
The background music is spooky with howling dogs and eerie sounds.
Having just managed to find 25 locks in the hour I had unlocked the Match 3 games but the clock ran out before I could try. A very easy going game with excellent graphics. |
