Great Fun!
Pirate Poppers is similar to Luxor in style, but that's where the similarities end. Pirate Poppers is a much faster game and much more challenging. I went back to Luxor after playing Pirate Poppers for a week, and I couldn't believe how slow Luxor was! There are many dual-track levels which require intense focus and strategy. Unlike Luxor, there is no guarantee that you will have the right colored cannonballs to shoot, so you really have to think quickly. There is a wide variety of power-ups on each level, making the game play unexpectedly fun. Just when you think you have your strategy in place, the chain-breaker or explosive cannon changes everything! There are three game play levels available in the full version. Arcade, Adventure and Puzzle. All three are excellent and provide hours of interest. While you are busy trying stay alive, you are collecting pirates booty, jewels, gold, silver and more! The only downfall with this game is that eventually it will end. Althought after hours and hours of game play I haven't been able to complete the dreaded level 73! There is good news for gamers who don't like to start over when they die. This game allows you to continue from your last level, but you do lose all your men. The sound effects are fantastic, be sure to turn up the volume when you play. Cannon fire, and other life like pirate battle sounds are abundant. The music is excellent and enhances the experience. The name "Pirate Poppers" just doesn't fit with the high level of action and adventure you will experience with this game. "Pirates Plunder", "Cannon Shot" or some other less child-like title would probably bring more interest to adults. But, don't let the kiddie title fool you. This game is well worth your $$. My 80 year old mum loves it as much as my college kids do! Anyone between 5 and 100 will get hours and hours of addictive game play with their purchase! At least download it and give it a try. You'll be missing out if you don't! |

Wik it and Wik it Good!
This is an amazing game. The very unique gameplay and story is both entertaining and absorbing. Reflexive has created a wonderful yet creepy new character, added rich graphics, a great storyline, and very challenging puzzles. The results are spectacular. In short, there is no game like this on the market.
The game presents different challenges from level to level, with new obstacles and ever changing enemies. Moving Wik around the screen requires agility and quick thinking. It is not easy at first to learn how to get Wik to stick and swing. However, Reflexive has included a great Challenge Mode which allows you to practice your skills and learn from your failures. This is incredibly helpful as you must learn to move Wik quickly to be successful. Wik gathers Grubs and fights off bugs, collecting coins and gems along the way.
In Story Mode, you are faced with chapter after chapter of increasingly difficult situations. On each level you need to help Wik move around the scene by jumping and sticking his tounge to trees, platforms and branches. Grubs pop up everywhere, requiring Wik to move quickly from one area to another. His sidekick, Slotham, walks slowly along the ground, eating honey if he can find it and collecting the grubs that Wik spits at him. Each level has a grub collecting goal and is timed. There are a huge variety of powerups that mysteriously appear. As you collect coins and gems, you are able to add additional lives and fill holes in a very mysterious shield that appears at the end of each level.
The game is very addictive and worth the download. You may find yourself buying it before the very generous 120 minute trial time runs out! |
