Cryptic is right!
If a game tells me to find a knife, and I find a knife and click on it, I get that point, right? Not in this game. No, you need the OTHER knife. Or the OTHER caterpillar, etc. Extremely annoying. And it happens about every other scene.
Graphics okay, sound effects/music okay, plot was lame and the dialogue really needed to be thought out better. (I found something to annoy the sorcerer! You get to play three rounds of Breakout! Annoy ME is more like it.....) Side games were par for the course but some of them left you hanging without a clue. I foresee a lot of forum questions about how to beat certain side games because most just let you try to figure them out on your own.
I'm normally a fan of search and find games (highly anticipating the next Encyclopedia of Magic installment) but this one should have been debugged a bit before release. |

In a word....cheesy.
Typical Search 'n Find game, but with a pitifully lame storyline. The actual gameplay is decent, with items that are just challenging enough to warrant the rare use of hints, but the "animated" graphics are incredibly lame, the storyline is pathetic, and the side games really shouldn't have been included at all.
The only thing I found remotely amusing about the game was the scruffy, sickly "alley cat" that holds the menu sign....that was cute. The "announcer" for the game makes me wonder who put Igor in a suit..... |

NOOOO!!!!!!.......This can't be the LAST insult!
I will be very, very disappointed if this is the last Elf Bowling game (just noticed that the "new" EB game is just the last two combined). Elf Bowling has become a Christmas staple, and I play them year round. I still have the original, unfortunately my old computer crashed and I haven't had a chance to get the 2-4th ones again.
The graphics keep getting better, gameplay is smooth and the game is just fun. I just wish we could still shoot the penguins.
Yes, I realize it's almost the same as the last, same gameplay and even a lot of the same insults, but $10 for another chance to smack some trash-talking elves into oblivion? (or a shark's waiting mouth.....) Money well spent. For a small bowling program (other than the shuffleboard version and the bra slingshot version), they keep delivering.
I only have one thing to say to the guys at NStorm: MORE, MORE MORE!!!!! |

Nice try
I love S&F games that utilize the items you have to find, but this one let me down. The gameplay could have been much more in-depth, instead it made for very short scenes and extremely transparent puzzles.
Do yourself a favor and grab MCF or, even better, Magic Encyclopedia. Maybe they'll come out with a better sequel to this game. |

Another great BaL!
The only real complaint I have with this game is the same complaint I had with the previous two installments: Gameplay goes from fun and fairly easy-to-beat levels to next-to-impossible to beat, much less beat with a star, usually in the last handful of levels. It would be more enjoyable if there was a gradual curve instead of the "it's been fun, now we're throwing you in the deep end!"
Other than that this game has the same enjoyability as the previous two, and while the graphics won't be winning any awards they're definitely not bad or fuzzy. I did enjoy the new features (facilities, restoration, more painting colors) and jumping all over Europe seemed to make the game last longer. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with next, Space Station, anyone? |
