Took away my popcorn button...
I played the previous iterations of the 7 Wonders trilogy and was extra excited about this one. The first one was fun and the second one added so much great stuff without ruining the basic premise. This one on the other hand took out everything that was added in the second one and added a feature that tends to be more annoying than helpful. It seemed inventive, but then lost its flavor when it became the same, not complicated or hard to figure out, puzzle. Not to mention there is hardly ever a benefit to it during the standard game. Overall the lack of content I feel got lost in the quest to get the rotating board to work correctly. In my opinion, not a good sacrifice.
In short, if you are looking for a basic match 3 and have no previous expectations, go for it. If you have played any of the previous two and understand how games are made (if made correctly, the jump from the second one to this one should NOT have lost any features and from a design perspective dropping the features is very unwise) then you will loathe this game as much as I do.
On a side note, the menus use flying cubes for everything which really looks dumb and takes a long time to show the menu. On the plus side though, the graphics didn't suffer. |
