Carbon copy of cooking mama
This game is basically a carbon copy of Cooking Mama. If you liked that game, you'll like this one, because it's practically the same thing for the PC. It gets a little repetitive after awhile because you're just doing the same actions over and over, only with different ingredients, but it's fun for awhile. |

Ew!
I can't believe I thought this game was going to be good. I thought it was going to be like Chocolatier 3, but unfortunately, it's just another "Diner Dash" rip off. Stay away if you actually enjoyed any of the Chocolatier games and expect this one to be anything similar. |

Fun at first, boring later
This is not a game like Plant Tycoon, despite the name. It's pretty fun for the first hour or so, trying to come up with all the seed combinations. But then it soon turns into busy work. Once you have all the seed combinations, you basically:
1) Grow the most expensive plant for the day.
2) Buy whatever you don't have.
3) Repeat.
It reminds me of Harvest Moon in that it's fun at first, but then it becomes the same thing over and over. There's nothing redeeming about the power-ups either: you barely notice when you have a greater powered watering can or rake, and upgrading the house gets you nothing but a reward. The only thing rewards do are give you money when you receive them.
There is no incentive to beat the game or even get the power-ups or house upgrades.
Also, probably the most annoying thing in the game are the rats. The way the developers created the game is obviously geared towards queuing many things at once, but you can't because the rats will start to eat your vegetables if so.. and if you're in the middle of planting something and the rats are getting to your plants, that plant is pretty much screwed.
Not like it matters if the rats eat your vegetables though, no matter how many vegetables are in your hands when you sell them, you get the same price for them. The rats could have eaten 4/5 stalks of corn, and you'd still sell them for full price. Considering you can sell the "scraps" the animals eat for $50, it would probably be more profitable to let the rats eat most of one vegetable, as crazy as that sounds!
Anyway... I would not recommend anyone buy this game unless you're a hardcore 100% completionist fan and have no problem doing the same thing over and over to get 100% completion. There are many better farming simulations, like Plantasia.
At least the sound isn't annoying! :) |
