They've Done it Again!
Wow, I loved the online game Music Catch, and I was thrilled to see they'd made a downloadable version! I love the elegant simplicity of the game, and the music is great. It's everything the online game is, and much more.
I've heard people complain about the music upload feature, and I wasn't too sure about it either at first. But I uploaded one of my favorite songs (and a great song too in my opinion), and I loved it! My only complaint about this feature is the fact that the only music format supported is MP3s, MP4s would be nice.
My only other complaint is a small one. The only two visual options are windowed and fullscreen, and since I have my monitor set to a very high resolution, "fullscreen" doesn't actually fill the screen. Apart from that though, I would highly recommend this game to anyone, despite the bad reviews. |

Xtremely Addictive!
Ah yes, Ricochet Xtreme. The starter of them all. Ricochet puts a twist on the classic brick busting genre, and will change your view on brick-breaking games forever!
For the gameplay, you begin with a ship and balls known as Ion Spheres. In the game, you progress through five different environments, each with unique typed of bricks to challenge you. You begin in the Space environment...
Armed only with your Spheres, you launch your ball at the first brick. Asteroids are flying by in the background, music is playing the classic space theme, and as you hit the first brick, the brick-breaking noise plays through your speakers, and you just begin to realize what a top-notch game this is. Even on the first level, you see many different types of bricks. The bricks aren't just multicolored rectangles though, they look like the environment around them! They look beat up, and made of some king of metal, some pulsating, others with switches moving back and forth, and still more with LEDs stuck in the center of them. Oddly enough, in all levels of Ricochet, in all games, each brick in constantly moving ever so slightly, as if it were floating in zero gravity. Subtleties like this proves how much goes into these games. When the first power-up brick is hit, and the simple but bright power-up falls down, you catch it, and it is put into effect. In that moment you are hooked, stuck, you cannot escape the power of the Ricochet universe.
As you progress through the levels, you see things you would never see in a normal brick busting game. Things like moving objects, not just moving bricks. One level is a car made of bricks that does move along. There are bricks that change surrounding bricks' type. There are even bricks that change the positioning of bricks, acting as triggers and switches. Some levels can be considered puzzle levels because it does require plenty of brainpower.
The powerups are amazing and you will see how unique Ricochet Xtreme really is |
