Unique and challenging
"World Mosaics" starts off simply enough -- perhaps too simple, as I found myself wanting to disable the tutorial hints rather quickly -- but soon becomes a fun test of reasoning skills. The music is rather repetitive, sounds are fairly basic, yet neither is particularly bad. Just not outstanding. Gameplay seems straightforward; on a grid, players must uncover a hidden image/pattern by finding the "hidden" tiles and either digging out or avoiding the blank spaces, given the number of consecutive tiles in each row/column. What starts off as a process of elimination becomes a struggle to keep track of all the numbers. In all, World Mosaics is most certainly worth playing, though you may find yourself getting confused, though not necessarily frustrated. |

Not bad, but not especially good.
Fans of shoot-em-ups will recognize this game's style almost immediately; Collect bonuses, weapons, and power-ups, and, obviously, blow things up.
That's it. Really.
Anyone familiar with the "Air Strike" series will undoubtedly have a sense of deja vu almost immediately, as precious little has changed between "Air Strike" and its sister, "Space Strike." Come to think of it, not even the name makes great strides toward individuality. Locales and enemies are different. As far as I can recall, the weapons are largely unchanged, and most bonuses/power-ups are the same. Obviously, rather than a helicopter, the player now controls a space shuttle of some sort. The graphics are somewhat nice, but I can't help but feel I've seen 'em all before. The sound and game itself are rather bland, however.
Think of this as "Air Strike's" little sister. And that isn't really saying much.
If you're dying for a space shooter, your time and money is better spent on "Jets N' Guns," or perhaps the "Star Defender" series.
In short, diehard shooter fans need only apply, but don't expect anything new or exciting. |

Uninspired, at best.
First off, this is NOT worth your time. Let me make that clear. You may as well play "Raptor: Call of the Shadows" instead. That one's abandonware, too. This game's graphics (and a good deal of SFX) seem to be direct ripoffs of "Raptor's" classic gaming goodness. On the subject of graphics and sound, both are very bland and unexciting. The backgrounds are boring, the weapon-sounds are terrible, and the voices are laughable (and I heard no music; yeah, it does matter. Look at "Crimsonland") at best... This game had ONE redeeming point, save for it being reminiscent of some of the greatest shooters of all time: Some of the "bomb" effects were pretty cool.
All in all, though, this one's not worth a look unless you're desperate. |
