WISH there were more games just like this!

This game has just hit the top of my favourite games yet, sitting nicely alongside Azada as one of the very few mini-game based storyline games out there!

I'm not sure why this premise is so overlooked as it's so much more fun than plain hidden object, dash, or match 3 concepts.
So what do you get here? Hidden object, spot the difference, match 3, jigsaws, dash, match, logic, weights, all manner of brain-training style puzzles. And all well done, varied, and interesting. Awesome!

GOOD BITS: The puzzles are well spread out, and don't get too repetative. The storyline is nice and friendly for all ages. The graphics are good and in line with most other current games. I can also see from how far i've got in demo that it's not a short game so plenty of play time to be had. Another blessing... the music isn't annoying!

BAD BITS: A few completely unseeable items in the hidden objects (remedied by the fact that hints are as many as needed at a cost), and I had one hang and crash that hasn't happened since. Other than that, I cannot fault it!

On my next payday I will be buying the full version and cannot wait to play the rest. I strongly advise anyone who like puzzles, mini games, hidden object, or brain training to give this game a demo at the very least - it's well worth it!
Very well done, and look forward to completing this one and hopefully another in the pipeline if possible! Demo it! :-)

Better than expected!

A good tycoon game, hooray!

I was sceptical as I downloaded the trial as so many tycoon games are really disappointing but this one's actually got a good bit of gameplay and isn't too complicated or simple.

There's a good array of upgrades, and a good quantity of new flowers and ornaments (etc) to research. The battle to take over the city is also fun. You have complete control of everything and the tutorial is clear enough to not make you feel lost or over-immersed.
But the main thing I like about this one in particular is that you can set things up to pretty much run themselves without too much hassle or if you like tweaking things you can make yourself a huwwge profit with a bit of extra effort.

It took me ages to realise I could type in the amounts, before that I was "grrr"ing because I thought you couldn't quantify between 100 and 200, ha ha. It is a bit annoying that everytime you upgrade or research something new you have to go back and reset your totals for every stall but that's only a small irritation and not worth quibbling about.

In conclusion, I loved it, found it thoroughly enjoyable and would highly recommend to anyone who loves tycoon games! :-)

Third time's a charm!

There's no shame in being a Virtual Villagers addict, and for those of us who are addicted to any kind of game, whenever there's a sequel out you get an initial 'wahooo!' followed by several crossed fingers and toes that it won't have changed too much but will challenge you more!

So what are the new additions? Weather is a new thing here (in that it affects your game). The introdution of a chief is also new and a great idea because your chief can summon varying amounts of food for you every 24hrs which is a big sigh of relief since most of us have had famine issues in the other games, much less likely now. They can also lecture and perform other helpful things, be kids or be either sex and have babies if female which is good because they don't 'work'. The potions list is also now much more extensive than before and it can be very amusing just trying and testing things. The other big addition is that your tribes can now select a 'type', either magic or nature, which affects what you can do and means you also want to play at least twice all the way through! Enough of all that, on to...

Gameplay Much the same as before graphics/movement-wise, no major changes here but to be honest i'm quite glad, we like it! The tasks, challenges etc are more varied and just as likely to make you have to scour a walkthrough in places, so also great. It does feel like there's more to do and you do find yourself discovering new things big and small fairly regularly through the game.

In conclusion it's clear that I loved it, it hasn't changed in any major ways and that's a good thing (to me anyway). You still get a whole lot of gameplay for your money, and it's still one of the best real time strategy games out there of the type. I bought without demo because with any Virtual Villagers game, you won't get much done in an hour anyway, but all I can say is that it was 100% worth it and i'll be doing the same when Virtual Villagers 4 comes out - BIG thumbs up!

What a SUCCESS!

I was dubious about the instant appearance of thievery of the Build-a-lot premise as i'm a big supporter of that fantastic game, BUT there's been enough adaptation here to make it successfully stand on it's own, hurrah!

Good Bits: A good timeline, great and plentiful upgrades, fast gameplay, a lot of logic and tactics, value for money, brain boggling, and more importantly... interest!
This is a very good all round game, and pretty novel. You'll be hooked in minutes and still playing days later. It's not too easy or hard and very very playable and addictive.
You here have, building, matching, timers, upgrades (that you can sell), lots of levels, workforce, and rewards. Fabulous!

Bad Bits: Surprisingly few. It's a mind overload you'll either love or hate. The storyline's a bit predictable, a few lots are hard to see, but to be honest i'm just scraping to find faults here.

An important thing, I feel, to review is whether a game is good value for money. Whether you'll get a good amount of play time from it because there's an awful lot of games on here that can almost be completed in a couple of hours and are therefore shameful in their price. This however IS good value and I bought it after the demo expired because I could clearly see there was a long way to go and I was hooked enough to give in! So yes, worth it.

The gameplay gets fast quickly and in conclusion I would say that this is a fantastic update on relatively few of these games. If you liked build-a-lot or even diner dash, this is a superior mix of the two types :-) I couldn't recommend it more so demo and try and you'll probably end up buying like me!

THE Game to buy!

Value for money, great graphics, great stories, not too easy, great fun!
Liked Westward, LOVE Westward II!!!

Other people have spoken about the sandbox with this game and they're absolutely right! You can have HOURS/DAYS of fun using that alone, in fact i'd advise people to have a few goes with that before playing the story because this game is not easy straight off. Unless i'm dense of course and just couldn't get the hang of it at first. There's a lot of waiting and careful balancing acts going on here and it's pretty darned challenging to be honest but in the best possible way.
The graphics are improved and great, the character voices very good (if a little repetative, a few more variations wouldn't have hurt), the challenges new, and the atmosphere fun. My only two gripes are...
1: The way that at the start you need gold not only to build, but to buy dynamite to blast to open another mine in case and also to unlock buildings as well as buy gunslingers/deputies and right at the start this had me starting over about 5 times because I just kept running out and getting stuck. Trying to follow storyline missions (ie. needing 'guns' which cost 100-200), unlock needed buildings, build, and blast was too hard.
2: The food (this again!) is always fine as long as you store enough wells/water/granaries/'mills and build enough ranches/farms UNTIL you top about 30 people when suddenly no matter what I did it ran out! I did an experiment and had them all working farms/ranches with full water and it still kept running out... go figure because it lost me. New people regenerate but then you're stuck constantly re-allocating jobs which is just annoying.

Those few grumbles aside I absolutely love these games and this ones is a very worthy sequel with big sparkly stars around it! Compared to some of the regurgitated rubbish around for the same price it's worth it's weight in... GOLD! :-)
