From the makers of Mr. Robot...
I love Starscape. This game has been out for a while, but is just now hitting Reflexive.
Basically, Starscape is a hybrid game blending quite a few genres. It's mostly action, however. Collecting materials to upgrade your ship (lots of fun space-mining), shooting down enemy ships, protecting your base, etc..
There is also a big map of the galaxy which you jump around on. (And through wormholes into another dimension, etc.) You have to avoid certain enemy patrols and work your way towards facing the ultimate threat.
The game places you in control of a science research vessel. You can upgrade the large gun on your main ship which can fight off attacks, but also can have up to four other ships that you control directly during battle/mining/etc. It's a lot of fun.
There is a great deal of customization, a great story, lots of development of new weapons and technologies, and a ton of replay value. Give this game a try, for sure! |

Loved Armadillo Run? You'll like this!
Sort of a mix between The Incredible Machine and Armadillo Run. This is more complicated than it looks. Give it a shot.
Basically, you are given a budget in a level, and are given a set of tools which cost different amounts of cash to utilize. You have to propel the gold block to the exit in each room.
Almost like Eets, really. Not quite as refined, graphically/soundwise, but it's up there with Armadillo Run, that's for sure. |

Finally, something new!
With all these "been there, done that" games coming out recently, like Gumboy Crazy Adventures, Gish, Zombie Smashers X2, Mexican Motor Mafia, and the like... it's nice to FINALLY see something brand new hit the Reflexive scene.
Matching jewels to clear the screen? How refeshing and new! I can't wait to put this on my Christmas list. It's a long way off, but from the looks of this game so far, it'll be worth the wait.
I'll be buying this ASAP. Developers, listen up: what we need are more games like this! Lining up some jewels, maybe smashing them, and so forth. It's the stuff of legends, and it's never been done before. Get to it!
Edit: Please understand that everything I wrote above was pure sarcasm. Right down to the "been there, done that" games I mentioned. |

Sometimes I wonder...
I've seen better games on free flash sites. Really. Do yourself a favor and avoid this game entirely. I've seen games next to the comics in the newspaper with more content and depth. You basically shoot cannonballs at oncoming ships, and buy "upgrades." Oh, don't forget the awesome rank system, which just gives you a rank-up every time you beat a wave of ships and airships. Somehow, it sounds more interesting when I'm writing it than when actually playing it. How in the world can they even think of charging 20 dollars for this? Actually, download this and give it a shot. Spend your trial getting everything that there is out of the game, be ashamed, and then post a review begging people not to buy this game for their children. Getting this as a gift would ruin Christmas. |

Having actually PLAYED the game...
The first review for this game was from a person who stated that they didn't actually PLAY the game, since it was too "heavy" for his computer. He went on to give the game 3 stars in each category.
That would be like a blind person giving a book a bad review because she couldn't read it. Or a deaf person complaining that Metallica's newest album is a bit too quiet for him.
Having played the game, I think it's pretty darn great. The graphics and sound are top notch, the gameplay is simple and intuitive, but can be difficult. Overall, the game has STYLE. Just give it a download and try it for yourself. Compare it to the latest trashy Match-3 holiday knock-off. I think you'll make the same decision I did.
Definitely worth buying, and it would be a shame not to at least try it. |
