Star Defender 3
The highly anticipated sequel to Star Defender 2 is finally here! Get ready to fight through hoards of alien beasts as they mercilessly attack the Earth! Blast through 8 huge missions as you prove who's boss, once and for all! With fantastic new weapons, a progressive system of bonuses and attacks in brilliant new locations, this is the most exciting Star Defender yet! The explosions will blow you away so don't miss this hot battle as you fire up your laser and get to work!
This is Galaxian on mega steriods, an extremely hyperactive Space Invaders! The graphics are out the hizzie, the soundtrack is phat, and the simple mouse controls makes playing this game a delight.
Until you start playing it and find out it's not as easy as you might have thought. This game will lull you into making stupid mistakes that'll get you killed and it's so busy with swarming enemies that getting whacked is easy because there's so much stuff to keep an eye on! If I could change one thing about the game, I'd make the various weapons selectable as well as collectable.

Another fantastic installation in an already fantastic series.
For the sake of not having bought it, i cannot fully give this game a 5/5 in every category. Needless to say, It brings out the little nerd who still wishes he was a space Captain. If you're not a fan of this kind of game play, this game probably won't convert you. But, if you're a Space Jockey like myself, with the Holidays coming and boredom setting in, this game came just in time.
Aliens, guns, Spaceships. What more could a man want? If anything, it'll help you kill time as you try to beat the game. Star Defenders 2 was alright, but this proves that no matter what you thought of the second or even first game, There's still a little kick left in the series. More power-ups include the almighty Nuke, One-hit Kill laser, Mines, Swarmer Rockets, Lightning balls and more. The weapon power-ups are nice as well ranging from a single shot laser to a Double, even to triple (with nice effects in between).
The Boss battles are Difficult in a sense that you can easily die if you slack off, The regular enemies themselves are a force to be reckoned with. I myself have died several times. The in Game ranking systems bestow upon you the rank of Junior, Captain and so on as you increase your points upward.
The game play is difficult enough on normal, but when cranked up to Hard the AI takes on a life of it's own, swarming you with lasers until you just want to curl up until it's over. The story follows you as you wage war against the alien Menace, going through 8 missions with around 11 levels each (may vary).
All in all, There isn't much I can say about this game that is bad. Space fighters have a new par to meet as this will certainly raise the standard. My buddy has it on his computer, and I foresee many a day sneaking into his office to play it.

Back on track!
To be honest, just for no reason I didnt like StarDefender 2. But now 3 gave my hopes back. I really like it, really. A bit more dynamic, better graphics (well I was kinda hoping for 1024x768 resolution but still..) great effects. What makes it good are the new bonuses, a lot and really functional! And its more challanging as I see it, defenetly a plus.
Thers only one thing, why someone please tell me why does my ship has to be stuck on the bottom? If the player could move the ship everywhere this, in my humble opinion, would be one of the best arcade games ever.

Hm... I'm not sure what the mines are SUPPOSED to do. But keep in mind that Mines are one of the most useful powerups in the game. On the levels that you can get them, stock up on these, avoiding all other expendable powerups. Not only do they block shots from regular Aliens, but if positioned correctly they can block some shots from Boss's giving you valuable cover.
Stuck on Level 8? The last level in the game (The Black Hole) is incredibly difficult. I tried it on Hard...no luck. Tried it on Normal...still kept dying (and I mean over and over and over)
If you just want to get a sense of completion after banging your head against the wall till it hurts, switch to "for kids" mode. Yes, I know...the voices in your head will tell you "you are wimping out!"...but if the other voices are louder with their complaints of "I just want to get to the end!"...then switch to "for kids" difficulty in the options menu.
I'm feeling a bit wimpy, but I did get that sense of completion I was looking for...and after seeing some of the levels that I would have had to beat, I'm glad I did it.
Lasers. I don't care what anybody says about the Nuke, Lasers are THE single most usefull powerup in the game. When you get them, save them up and do not use them on regular enemy's. Instead, target the turrets and other hard to kill enemy's with them, taking them out with one shot and collecting the powerups they drop.
If you find yourself a little cornered, try to line up the enemies in as straight a line as you can because the laser will and can take out more then one enemy at once. One-hit kill for most enemy's makes it the most valuable weapon.
Lightning balls (Or whatever they may be called) Have their uses, and like most other powerups featured each mission, they should be stocked up on as they are transferrable to each level. The swarming enemies are most likely to drop powerups, so if you can, dart under them, fire a lightning bolts and watch them sizzle.
Mission 4 is very difficult if you do not play it right, so be careful, take your time and dodge lasers, and try to stock up on powerups while avoiding other powerups you don't want. Don't go after powerups if there's a chance you'll be hit, play it conservatively on normal mode, I dare not try it on Hard.
The "Chain-Lightning" weapon is the best! You can fire it when you're in trouble, and it clears out many enemies without having you worry about targeting them, because it's homming. Does anyone know where to get the "INSULATOR" weapon? I've played through the game in all modes and I couldn't find it.
