Cradle of Rome
The fabulous lands of Caesar open their gates in front of you in this new puzzle game: Cradle of Rome! You are given the chance to build Ancient Rome, the most legendary city of all time! Play and conquer more than 100 addictive and intuitively designed levels, collecting and unlocking 8 original bonuses and many surprise features along the way. As you play more and earn enough money and supplies to buy larger buildings, you'll see your city grow into a vast and magnificent center of life, the heart of the antiquity!
What a m a g n i f i c a n t game!
Yes, it is a match 3 type game, but nothing like the rest.
You are slowly re-building the ancient city of Rome, as you progress through the levels.
Each building you buy, gives you a new power up, and source for either food, gold, wood, etc, as each building requires a certain amount of each for purchase.
It's not an easy game either, it's a definite challenge, with around 100 levels of addicting game-play, and you are on a clock, the faster you finish, the bigger the bonus!
Once you've reached Emperor status, [from Peasant, Merchant etc] and completed re-building Rome, you are given the chance to visit Olympus, hence, giving you several more levels to complete, and here is where it gets harder.
If you lose all of your lives during these levels, you will need to start off at the last Era [there are five Era's eg: Epoch] and re-purchase everything from that Era all over again.
It's challenging, fun, and very rewarding once you've completed it.
Great graphics, brilliant sound, I thought the sound went very well with the whole Roman theme, and excellent game-play.
The different power-ups keep it from seeming/being repetitive, as some of these games from this genre tend to get, but this one tops them all.
Worth every cent!
Big thumbs up and a Hail Caesar!

I loved the game but it is really frustrating when you run out of lives and have to start over. The sound is boring but the game is too good to let that stop you.

For the Glory of Rome!
I played this with expectations that "here we go again yet another match three." That's where I was wrong, as I was playing it was like a strange addiction, kind of like mixing Milk with Pepsi. It should'nt be so good but yet it's strangely addicting.
I am always a history enthusiasts and especially when it comes to Egyptian, Greece and Roman history so naturally I explored it much like other games of history like Caesar I-IV, Age of Empires and Sid Meiers Civ series.
The powerups are as follows, from the very useful thunderbolt, to the useful bomb shot that blows out 6 cells. And the semi-useful the hammer shot. It's not revolutionary in terms of setting any standards or precedent but rather the feeling of building an empire without micromanagement of standard RTS/RPG games some of which I already mentioned.
I cannot really list the real appeal of this game, for me it's like when I play Fizzball and Talismania, strangely I was addicted to playing it if for no other reason than the cartoony graphics along with the feeling like you're actually doing something, building a momument, buildings, or rescuing animals. It's a sort of a feeling of accomplishment as you read the entertaining comical anecdotes or interesting facts from mankinds past.
Maybe I'm just a really really strange person that way. I love it.

If you go into the C: drive and locate the cradle of rome folder. Once into your in that folder look for a second folder that says save. Open up that folder. Once there you should be an .xml file with the name you created during the game.
Look for the line that starts looks like this:
<Resources>
<ResDepot type="1" amount="227377" />
<ResDepot type="2" amount="216268" />
<ResDepot type="3" amount="220141" />
Type 1 is your gold
Type 2 is your materials (lumber/rocks)
Type 3 is your meat.
If you open up this file in the notepad you can edit this amounts. I tried it at 500,000 (without the comma) for each item, and I was able to buy all of the stuff that I wanted to buy and still have money left over. Within a few minutes I am at Olympus
Ivorykitten has a valuable list of citizens above. Just to add: you unlock the Smith by scoring 10000 points in the first ten levels. If you already have 10K points when you build the quarry, you get the Smith right away. The Miner takes 2000 units in one level, not 1000. The Orator is very valuable in completing higher levels, but you lose him (and the other citizens) after you make Emperor. You got to get to Olympus without any help! The Miller is the guy who gives me problems. I cannot unlock him by simply making 15 matches. I think it is one match that results in 15 squares being gained. But, I don't know for sure and would appreciate input.
Priest: (Refill Time Bonus Faster) Beat a Level in 3 minutes or less ater buying the Temple
Smith: (Refill Hammer Faster) Get 5-in-a-row of any item after buying the Forge
if you have time, leave one last block to break and just pile on the points and get as many bonus items as possible. try to activate the hammer, bomb, shield, cross, star, and mixer before moving to the next level, the items come in random and there will be levels where you have very puny bonus items.
