THE Game to buy!
Value for money, great graphics, great stories, not too easy, great fun!
Liked Westward, LOVE Westward II!!!
Other people have spoken about the sandbox with this game and they're absolutely right! You can have HOURS/DAYS of fun using that alone, in fact i'd advise people to have a few goes with that before playing the story because this game is not easy straight off. Unless i'm dense of course and just couldn't get the hang of it at first. There's a lot of waiting and careful balancing acts going on here and it's pretty darned challenging to be honest but in the best possible way.
The graphics are improved and great, the character voices very good (if a little repetative, a few more variations wouldn't have hurt), the challenges new, and the atmosphere fun. My only two gripes are...
1: The way that at the start you need gold not only to build, but to buy dynamite to blast to open another mine in case and also to unlock buildings as well as buy gunslingers/deputies and right at the start this had me starting over about 5 times because I just kept running out and getting stuck. Trying to follow storyline missions (ie. needing 'guns' which cost 100-200), unlock needed buildings, build, and blast was too hard.
2: The food (this again!) is always fine as long as you store enough wells/water/granaries/'mills and build enough ranches/farms UNTIL you top about 30 people when suddenly no matter what I did it ran out! I did an experiment and had them all working farms/ranches with full water and it still kept running out... go figure because it lost me. New people regenerate but then you're stuck constantly re-allocating jobs which is just annoying.
Those few grumbles aside I absolutely love these games and this ones is a very worthy sequel with big sparkly stars around it! Compared to some of the regurgitated rubbish around for the same price it's worth it's weight in... GOLD! :-)

Yeehaw! Saddle up at get ready for the ride of your life partner!
Very addictive, complex, and entertaining. I was able to spend hours at a time immersed in this game. The story line is interesting. With some level of mystery you find yourself wondering how the story may progress. Their are several side quest that compliment the main story line and add a bit more depth to this game. There is also a pretty healthy dose of humor involved here. I found myself laughing openly quite frequently.
The gameplay and controls can be annoying to say the least. The controls have been improved upon from the first version of this game but they could still use some modification. It also runs a but choppy on my computer. I meet the system requirements but the game freezes and morphs about when I scroll the map. It isn't too bad though. I would say about 5% of the time I am annoyed and 95% enjoying the heck out of the game.
Changes - First off, the controls are a lot more complex and the makers greatly improved on the old "right click and drag" movement function. Now you can select a group of people and simply right click on their destination rather than dragging them all the way there. For me I found this to be very easy. You can also zoom in and walk about the streets with your townies. Gold mines can be placed directly on the gold vein which takes up a lot less space. Employment and housing are much easier to control and maintain. Outhouses are no longer required to maintain a town, but they add to a towns overall happiness. There are new buildings and also a page for awards. The awards are earned when a person reaches a certain milestone. For example, if you are producing all three farmed crops at one time you will receive the MASTER FARMER award. I am sure there are a lot more additions unique to this sequel but I cannot remember them all lol.
I highly recommend buying this game if you already haven't. Just remember to wear your chaps to avoid chaffing partner xD.

Tip 1:
A good trick I found was if you have the wood & gold you can build a saloon hire the gunslingers you want then demolish it build a new one & hire more gunslingers.
The great thing? The gunslingers stay put.
So you can hire more & more all you need is the wood & gold & *poof* you have an army to be reckoned with.
Tip 2:
You can hire the "nice" gunslinger (the lone ranger looking guy) over & over and the 5 points you get from hiring stack. So if you hire 10 you get the 5 points for each, so there's 50 points.
Tip 3:
Unfortunately the "nice gunslinger does not pop up too often.
a reply on kenkire .. dont you look over something... better keep the saloons where you build them .. why? cuz they give some happines .. also its smarter to buy saloon gunslingers if your really getting attacked all te time.. like irarely get bandits in my primary city .. aslo you can even buy much gunslingers if your making your 2th saloon
Job quest-he wants to work with animals
RANCH/FARM This takes a long time to make so keep them set up...
2 farms with pumpkin will get you pie (in General store)
2 ranches with sheep will get you wool (in General store)
10 flowers unlocks honey
Blacksmith boosts gold
Lumbermill boosts wood
to get money when no mines or woodhuts are available ... dont build annything with your last resources if yyou havent got a trade post and allot of food suplies ... if you get allot of more food then needed you can sell it in trade house ..... also always first make the train plartformnm and build train tracks of it and get sall 3 suply lines set up
to get happy points of food varieties:
make 3 farms and 3 ranches, (with different products) but only keep working one or two people on each. Don't forget make 10 flower pots to access honey bees. And make 3 of them (the maximum permited).
make more farms than there are poeple ... if there are 10 poeple one fully farm si enough to suply them whit food .. dont b e affraid to make outposts.... they keep sending in resources.. so make first wood cuz wood is low on the first lvl....always take quests.. take on bandits if at least 2 gunslingers are whit your hero.... and know wich hero is good for what.....also if low on resource give your hero to cut a log fish fishes or mine little goldstones.. use up all your experience for all stuff you can.. but first thing first use exp on sherrifs office
