Letter Lab needs to be (DEMO)lished.

The demo version is all I could stand to experiment with. Letter Lab is certainly a snooze of a game and one of the worst releases I've seen hit this site in quite some time. It has a catchy game title, but really there's nothing else that makes you want to keep playing. I will be completely honest and say that I played through 5 levels before I just couldn't get into the game enough to keep on going. I tried hard to give it a chance.

I absolutely love word games. I own just about every kind of word game out there and play them daily. I play Reader's Digest Super Word Power almost daily to challenge myself with word knowledge and I have to say that I am really disappointed to see so many words that this game just doesn't recognize as an actual word!

I don't advise anyone to buy this game unless they are buying it for a 2nd or 3rd grader. That's about the level this game is aimed at really. Anyone with a better word knowledge would feel a bit insulted to indulge in this game for any length of time. I hate giving bad reviews, and really try not to, but this one couldn't be helped.

Overall Score: Thumbs Down
Sound: Annoying
Graphics: Comic Book Style - Non-animated.
Game Play: No Challenge (Kid Oriented)

LIFE - too routine & life like.

Just like the real lives we lead, this game mimics routine nature. As many before have stated, this game isn't as you'd imagine. This version of LIFE has very small hints of the original board game twisted into time management. There are similarities between Diner Dash & this game considering you’re, rather lazy, brother requires coffee from you & pays you for the task & promptness.

Your mother is needy & apparently lives with you all through your "life", as well as your professor constantly needing your attention through out the first 10 levels of the game. The 10th level requires you to "study" by standing at a book for a period of time, while trying to balance keeping your family happy. As the game progresses each level, you are assigned upgrades. This I don’t like. I like buying my own things, but that's just me.

After I graduated from college & "fell in love", I also started a career. I had saved up enough "Share the Wealth" cards to play a mini-game which quickly dulled after two or three plays. I really didn't even catch the point of the mini game. It appears to be a time waster & nothing more.

I was expecting to find after I had graduated, started a career, & found love, that perhaps my "tasks" would change & become more interesting. Alas, they did not change. At level 11, I found myself terribly bored with this game. The story line is virtually dead. Where Hasbro's “The Game of LIFE” really does leave the possibility of a LIMITLESS story line, Sarbakan seemed to almost entirely drop the ball in imagination.

I admit that I didn’t give the game a chance past 11 levels, but I have to say that I do believe it takes a very bored person to go beyond the level 11, & still find this game enjoyable. I'm going to have to go with the consensus here & give this game two thumbs down.

The sounds are little to none. The graphics do keep in theme with LIFE & are almost cute, but not quite there. However, the game play is unimpressive.

Soothing with a twist of challenge

This game has the same sort of objective as Zuma, Tumble Bugs, or Luxor but it puts some small challenges into the game play to keep things interesting. It reminds me of mixing Magic Inlay in with some of Big Kahuna Reef, and the shoot three game Luxor3.

Allow me to explain:

You have the hammer levels (inlay games use hammers a lot) that you get as you make more and more matches. The hammers allow you to break one, a few, or all of one color of pearl in your line. I usually save this for the very end. Kind of a finale to see your line disappear in great smashes!

You have the chained pearls that require you to match them first to unchain them before you can actually remove them. It's easy to miss these, as they are moving at a steady pace. (Kahuna reef and a few other match three games use chains as an extra challenge to their puzzles).

You have the coins to collect that appear in the middle of the game screen randomly. You have to shoot at them, and often the line of pearls moving by can obstruct your aim. (Luxor3 has vases that appear the same way in it's game).

This game has the ambiance music (mostly guitars). It's probably of the few shoot three games I've played where I didn't start shaking my leg in an anxious manner while panicking to shoot away the quick moving lines. I actually started to get a bit sleepy! (That is not a complaint though!)

I really loved the graphics. All of it was very appealing to my eyes and quite impressive. The backgrounds change with each level, and keeps thing fresh and exciting. The Celtic theme encourages the player that much more to relax.

There is only one option "Relaxed Play" - so that says it all. You can turn off the hints (good to keep those annoying windows from popping up) and you can turn down the sounds, music, or both.

All in all, I give this game 5 stars. If relaxing is what you want, this is the game to get. I'm off to buy this game.

If you know how to play...

It's a good game! If you don't know how to play cribbage, then you really need to find an online tutorial for cribbage. People want to make cribbage more complicated than it is, but really - it's kind of like playing POKER. You need to have some math skills too but only addition. If you know the value of the cards (same as poker) and how to add - it's as simple as that. 9+6=15, 7+8=15, Ace+4+Jack = 15. Runs are simple a sequence of cards such as 1,2,3. For a run of 3 you get 3 points. A run of 4 you get four points. You get points for flushes as well! Picking two cards out of your hand means you are disposing of cards that you don't need, and you hope your opponent cannot score off of, because you are giving those two cards to your opponent for their "extra hand" to score from.

Those who enjoy cribbage will enjoy this game. Don't use this game as your tutorial for learning. It will run you through the jist of how to play this QUEST, but not how to play CRIBBAGE. You're assumed to know how to play cribbage if you download this game.

The graphics are OK - nothing spectacular. I expected better, but the idea of the game was neat. The sounds were about the same level as the graphics to me as well.

All in all I give the game 4 stars because it does well in it's intent. If you expect this game to teach you cribbage, don't waste the time downloading it. It will only frustrate the beginner player that much more.

Great Tree, Great Game!

I find it hard to type beyond the word gorgeous! The graphics are, hands down, the best I've seen released on reflexive, by reflexive. So many realistic graphics inside that it, literally, creeps me out to see a mushroom man with eyes that follow me, & I wince at the thought of being eaten by a frog! The movements of the enemy are so genuine that when you’re attacked, you’re a bit dismal about it but at the same time you can’t help but be amazed at how remarkable & authentic they move.

The movements are fluid with the mouse, & so easy to control. The game's objective very simple & relaxing, but at the same time - does provide a slight challenge. If you aren't paying well enough attention, you can be eaten, poisoned or a many other things that lay in waiting. This has a very tiny touch of RPG in it as well, considering you can build your fairy's stats as you play to be healthier, stronger, or even faster.

I think the game could be a bit more challenging, on normal mode, by not having the Swee bounce around endlessly on your screen. It isn’t very difficult with not having the pressure of them "going away" before you can get to them. It’s almost too easy.

Some may grow bored of the simplicity in play style, but the few of us who get caught up in the story will continue to play & maybe set our own challenges of "how many bugs we can kill in one blast".

I, for one, found the music, game play, story line &, above all, graphics to be top of the line considering the games on the arcade market today. It kept me playing all the way to the end of the game & I loved it! You really cannot deny playing this beyond trial.

A couple of words about the music: beautiful, entrancing, relaxing, and a work of art. It’s worth buying this game just for the graphics & sound alone!

I do believe this is a game for mainly women & younger children, as men may not appreciate the idea of playing a fairy. Replay is certainly possible in this game.
