it got me playing whole afternoon!

This game had me playing for a whole afternoon. Game play is somewhat similar to dash games like Jessica's Cupcake Cafe (and the likes), where we have to 'make' the sushi before we present it to the customers. Alas, but the ingredients may not always be so readily available as it runs out and we have to make a call to order!

This game is also a bit of a memory work because we have to remember what combination of ingredients making up to what the customers want. It gets a lil complicated when so many ingredients made up to one order. There are also power-ups that are available as you earn more money.

There are 6 restaurants (i.e. 6 stages) to complete. And it may get just a lil duller towards the end (when you've had the money and the power-ups, thus pretty invincible).

All in all, very entertaining and engaging game. Or perhaps I was just eager to fill up a boring afternoon at home.

Concentration needed

This game allows you to name the 6 restaurants that you are given as you go along.

You can choose easy or normal for the game play and you can turn the sounds and effects down/up/off.

You are expected to fill orders that are made up of different ingredients. You are given a recipe book that you can refer to within the game for the meals.

The money you earn, is used for upgrades/purchases that you can get, before you play each level, in each restaurant. Your purchases help raise your restaurant star rating. The upgrades will not follow you to the new restaurant that you are working for.

As you go along, in each restaurant, you will notice that new ingredients/recipes are added, and more customers come in, including reservations and take-out orders. I would guess this depends on the star rating of that restaurant, whether or not you will receive a lot of business.

Each restaurant has it's own music, even though, they sound closely alike. You can decide on which one you want to use, in the game menu.

The game does not teach you how to use the reservation labels.
  • To use the labels, to reserve a seat, you must pick up a label and then drag/drop it to the area that you want to reserve. Once the reservation customers leave, the label will disappear back into it's original spot. To take the label away yourself, double click it.

To get through the levels, you must have concentration because this game works mainly on your memory skills.

Once you have completed all the restaurants, you are given the option to start over, from the beginning.

I give this game a 4.5 star rating.

    Swing and a miss.

When I first downloaded this game, I thought it was going to be something like the Diner Dash games, like most run-your-own-restaurant games tend to be. It's similar to Jessica's Cupcake Cafe or Turbo Pizza.

Graphics are nicely done, the customers are done in the style of 3d bobbleheads à la Party Down. Nothing extraordinary, and the restaurants are designed to look like actual sushi restaurants. The one thing that really stood out was that when I started the game up, I was greeted by a woman with.. three fingers. And a thumb. Also strangely enough, there were no Asian people that visited my restaurant (the first one, anyway) despite it being a sushi restaurant.. Even the chef (you can see him in the picture at the top) looks Caucasian.

Music is soothing and calming, definitely matches the mood of a sushi restaurant which is laid back and calm. It's not annoying or disruptive, and there is an option to turn it off if you don't like it.

The gameplay is where the game loses major points. It seems like they really just made a game and never bothered to test it. The tutorial is very brief and redundant, and it leaves out a lot of important facts, like how to book reservations, or general guidelines. A lot of little things really bothered me, for example, when you order more than 15 pieces of a topping (or rice) then it only registers 15, even if you paid for 20. It would have been very useful to have a larger limit, especially when it gets busy. Also, it is possible to get every upgrade in one level (see tips&tricks) by exploiting a bug. A few little errors like that could have easily been fixed with a bit of beta testing, and it's disappointing, because this could have been a great game - but it's just okay.

So overall, I do recommend this game. It's fun, addictive and easy once you get the hang of it - memorizing different recipes is hard at first! If you are easily bothered by little flaws, don't bother - it will annoy you more than it will entertain you

Also, make a lot of money in the earlier levels, you can easily make 2500 on a level goal of 900. This will help you get useful upgrades earlier in the game (if you don't want to follow the trick detailed above).
