Great background story, not-so-great gameplay

When I first started the game, I was really impressed - the intro movie was quite cool and created a mystic atmosphere. Then all this stuff about the secret society of adventurers - the people, the letters and so on - very convincing. They even made a very serious looking homepage for the Pini Society. Really great job about the background story and presentation.

The game itself unfortunately cannot keep up with this quality. The game design is quite boring compared to other mosaic puzzlers, because in every game you have to fill the same square mosaic, only it has different tile patterns each time. No interesting shapes, no real variation in gameplay. Just the same blocky tiles in four colors over and over again. There are a few features though, that make the gameplay somewhat unique:
* a work area to "pre-construct" elements to gain higher score and create ...
* power symbols (special tile patters) to unleash bonus effects
* the Tesla Machine with its cool effects

Aside from the repetitive gameplay, you will probably encounter a huge problem concerning the time management after a few levels. Without using all the bonuses you can get, you will usually fail to complete a mosaic in time. Which means, you have to replay it - making the game even more repetitive...

The Pini Society

This game looked so good when i downloaded the demo, i thought that i would enjoy it very much.
The music and sound effects are great, the story line is a little longwinded but not so bad that it would put me off the game.
The downside to this game is the timed aspect of the levels, this sometimes makes the levels almost impossible to create, it would have been better if you could have perhaps taken off the timed part of it in the options, thus leaving the option there for those who like to tear their hair out while playing a puzzle game, i wouldnt buy the full version of this game, simply because i know i would soon get bored of being unable to complete levels.
This is a shame because overall this is a good game, sadly let down by the above point, which completely ruins it.
