Another Chocolatier
Being a fan of the entire "Chocolatier" series since the beginning, I did not hesitate to download this game. And I was not disappointed.
Although it bears very little resemblance to previous Chocolatier games, it does mention a lot of the Baumeister family, and the main character is Evangeline. The premise of the game is, Evangeline has decided to open candy stores around the world where customers can come in and buy the famous Baumeister line of chocolates straight out. She is testing out her shops in pretty remote locations, but that doesn't seem to stop her from getting customers.
The game itself is a lot like the "Cake Mania" series, in the sense that you take the customers order,make their chocolate, deliver it, and then take the money. There are all different kinds of chocolate, just like in the original "Chocolatier" game, ranging from bars, truffles, and pralines, to bottles and bowls of chocolates. The game itself is not difficult, although sometimes achieving the master scores can be a bit tricky. Like in all games of this type, you gain extra points by making chains of actions, and you can purchase power-ups, upgrades, and new machines for your stores at the beginning of each level.
Overall, although this isn't a very "Chocolatier" type game, it is very enjoyable for any fans of Diner Dash, Cake Mania-esque games. The graphics are as good as can be expected, the sound is non-obtrusive and doesn't get annoying, and the game can definitely be played for a few hours without getting bored. Overall, I enjoyed this game quite a bit. |

No! NO NO NO!!!!!
No, I am sorry, but I was hoping that the Chocolatier-series wouldn't be tainted by this phenomena of Time-management. I have never quite fallen for this thing, like the Diner Dash and so on. To see the Chocolatier-series fall for this is heartbreaking...
But I guess for those who likes that type of game, it is an ok game. The characters are there, the graphics...not too good in my opinion, gameplay is to stressfull for me, but since I'm not so fond of these games, I don't have much to say about that.
I guess that it is an OK game, for those who like this type of games. But I can help to feel a bit disapointed, that they couldn't keep the Chocolatier-games away from this. |

Ew!
I can't believe I thought this game was going to be good. I thought it was going to be like Chocolatier 3, but unfortunately, it's just another "Diner Dash" rip off. Stay away if you actually enjoyed any of the Chocolatier games and expect this one to be anything similar. |

Haro's synopsys
People keep giving this game a bad review, so I feel I must give this game credit for it's merits. First of all, if you "expected" a "Chocolatier" game, then maybe you should not expect. Read the description of the game, or even just the name title. The title of the game is "The Great Chocolate Chase - A Chocoatier Twist", which implies the same NPC's and atmosphere, but in fact a different genre.
You have to try to appreciate a game for what it is, and the genre it falls under. If your not a fan of the genre, odds are you aren't going to like it. I don't like traditional RPG games (Such as D&D), so why would I bother to write a review about one (Such as "Eschalon")that is going to be naturally biased? The fact is this game is good in it's own merit, but is far from original. Yes, it is based on the "Diner Dash" concept, but so are many other games. And honestly, it is $20.00.
This game features the cast of your favorite "Chocolatier" games, and as such is a way for people who are a fan of this genre (Namely myself) a chance to experience the game in it's own light. The game does hove it's own concepts and ideas, from the abilities you purchase to the different element the "Diner Dash" series is played in. Sometimes it is the subtle changes that can make a game stand out, and for the ones that are in here I have no doubt that's true.
I would explain further but I do not spoil games for people who want to experience it. I will say the only bad thing about this game are the controls are a bit sluggish (I have a high end machine so it isn't on my end), and the graphics could have been better. While the graphics aren't horrible by any means, they seem a bit 2 dimensional for a "Diner Dash" offshoot. This seems primary because the games view is a larger from the front view, rather then the traditional over the top corner type view.
Ultimately, here is my score:
Graphics = 7/10
Gameplay = 9/10
Controls = 7/10
Sound = 9/10
Overall = 32/40 (Or 8.0/10) |

Complete utter rubish
Now I played both chocolatier games and this one definetly just another diner dash rip off or that snowy lunch rush one I would definetly reccomend playing one of the first 2 chocalatier games if you want to play a good game. |
