A great game...if you've got some time on your hands.
In my humble opinion Swarm Gold is just as, if not more, addictive than its predecessor. The game itself is much smoother and ship handling has been improved. Movement in general just seems more fluid. The dialogue is a lot more catchy and really draws you into the game. For fans of games in this genre, you won't want to stop once you've started. And that's where the only problem I can find with this game comes in...there is no Save Game option. So if you have to quit on the 99th level, you lose all your extra lives and ammunition. That's the only reason I wouldn't give Swarm Gold a 5/5 rating...other than that, it's an excellent game. |

An excellent sequel!
Having played the first Swarm, I was extremely impressed by this version! Ship movement was smoother, Narrative was edgier, and the overall game play was awsome! It is truly a shooter game for anyone's stable of games!

Different Is Good
I'm a big fan of shooters, and flying games. A top-down view, a multitude of insane weapons, and an easy control set-up make this game wonderful to play. The graphics and the explosive effects make it just as nice to look at. The short dialogues in the beginning of the levels feel a bit harsh, but it fits with the environment of the game itself, makes you feel more connected with the character and the time period as well. The music wasn't incredible, but it was fast-paced enough to keep my rhythm in the game going, which is all I look for in game music. The only thing I'd want in it next time is the ability to upgrade your ship, or purchase new weapons. Overall, it was an excellent game, and I look forward to more of the like. |

Swarm Gold
I loved the original Swarm, and was really excited to see the Gold version. With the original version I was always unhappy with the fact that when you got killed you lost all your weapons so you may be fifty levels or more in the game and blam you are back to no weapons.
In this version, and I may not see how to do the following, you cannot suspend a game as you can in the original Swarm. When you suspended the game in the original game it saved both the level and the weapons. There is no suspend in Gold so that you can come back to where you were. When you exit the game it saves the level you were on, but the weapons you accumulated are all gone.
I understand this is a recent release, but either I am missing something or this is a big miss in the program. |
