An Excellent Rendition with only one major dissapointment
Overall: (9.3/10) A very well done game with only a couple detractions keeping it from being one of the best in this genre.
Graphics: (8.8/10) Top notch! I mean really good, almost everything is very well done. Well, except for the backgrounds look like airbrushed styrofoam, maybe that was what they wanted, I don't know, but the backgrounds really detract from otherwise great graphics. (just needs hardware lighting :)
Sound: (9.9/10) This is one of the best sounding games I have played in a long time. The music is original and top notch, coinsideing to get the "feeling", but, whearas the music is great, the sound effects are really really top shelf and it's very obvious that a lot of work went into the sound effects. Use 5.1 surround headphones with vibration to get a nice "feel" for it. :)
Gameplay: (8.2/10) Well....I think maybe I was looking for a little more fresh content (Butterfly Escape was pretty inovative) , what is here is done really well, but, a little old now for the genre I think. The powerups are good, but seem to fall into 2 catagories, either a "nuke" or just not really that useful. But the main "gamebreaking" thing is the lack of a custom mouse cursor and low resolution, I mean, on levels where your fireing from the bottom at stuff on the top, you have to move your eyes to see what color is next, serious eye fatigue on a large monitor and really detracts from the gameplay besides the huge windows stock mouse cursor. :( The other main detraction from gameplay I think is the speed. I mean, it's really fast...really fast, to hit stuff at the top you have to "lead your target" about 3-4 balls, I just feel it's a little Too fast...(hopefully i can edit a def file or something to be able to finish it). |

Sparkle
It took me over eight months, but I finally played it to the end. The game is fantastic! I love the music too. Plus, you need your brain in that you have to figure out which is the best amulet for each level you play. This is one of those games that is really worth the purchase price. If you liked Zuma, you'll love Sparkle. |

A fun experience
I think this game is a very basic example of a simple fun game with all the pieces in the right position. It also has a certain weird feel to it which makes it unique.
Some of the sounds are a bit weird and the graphics are on the darker side. But that's all good! It's not your run of the mill stuff so it keeps things more interesting.
This is a worthy follower of Zuma. If you enjoy this type of game you should enjoy this too. There is quite a lot to play and also it seems that there is some hidden stuff to find. |

Remember Zuma? This is just as fun!
If Zuma is one of your favorite games (it was one of mine) then you will absolutely love this game. When you play the adventure portion of the game, you play levels that are along a ‘path’ on a map. You come to crossroads where you pick the direction.
Along the way you win ‘amulets’ that give you different skills. Everything from ‘more powerups appear’ to ‘never loose a life’. There are ‘hidden secrets’ sprinkled throughout the game. I’ve played for over a month now and still haven’t found all the secrets. I look forward to finding more of them.
There are 3 game modes. The adventure portion (where once you finish it, it starts immediately over on the expert level), a ‘race the clock’ portion and a ‘survival’ mode. The game is wonderful! The sound effects are crisp and exciting.
This was well worth the money and is a game I keep returning to. |
