Almost worth it.

I didn't really agree with any of the reviews for this game so I decided to write my own.
First off I must say that I played this game on the "Normal" difficulty level. I was able to play through 20 levels during the free trial and didn't lose a single life. I found the game very easy and started playing more to get all of the "Stars" and perfect kill percentages.
The power ups for the game were pretty standard fare for this type of game (spread shot, lightning gun, homing shot, and more) with several different styles of weapons and different strengths for each. More then enough weapon variety for most players, I think. You also collected limited supply weapons as well, unfortunately these did not carry over after finishing a level.
The graphics for the game were not up to the quality of the most recent shooters to show up on Reflexive but the sound was good. The gameplay was good with the use of the mouse and both buttons as well as one key to switch weapons. Overall if you a huge fan of shooters and want something new, try this, but set the difficulty to hard if you want any challenge at all.

Easier category of the shootem' ups

Overall, I give the game a 3. I played through all 20 levels on normal difficulty and found after a bit of time that if you use the "missile gun" (yellowish color) ammo you can easily win the game because the weapon automatically aims at the nearest enemy, even hitting up to 3 targets at once. I was able to obtain up to 13 lives by end game and left with 9, having gotten a bit sleepy after spending a couple of hours shooting.

The sound is not all that great, but it's just about run of the mill for a shooting game such as this. The graphics aren't bad, but they aren't anything to go bragging about either. Mouse movement was smooth as well. After about 10 levels into the game, I grew bored of the "excitement" to shooting and blowing things up. I did find though I was less stressed. LOL

My only complaint on the game is that you are able to see exactly how many lives you have obtained. Once you get 10 lives saved up, you can't see anything past ten because the game doesn't continue adding ships to the bottom of the screen's tally. So basically, it's up to you to know how many you have and keep up. I realized it does actually count them towards your total because when I died 4 times at the very end, my ship count finally went down enough for me to see.

I haven't tried easy difficulty yet, but I imagine that if I can beat the game on normal, then easy is probably a great level for little kids who want to play a non-violent shootem' up game. (I know, oxymoron there LOL).

I recommend this game for anyone who gets frustrated by the really hard, impossible to win shootem' up games. This one is not that big on challenge unless you switch to hard.

I do also suggest to any new players to take a moment to read the short instructions as it can help you to identify what the icons floating in the playing fields are.

Not bad, but not especially good.

Fans of shoot-em-ups will recognize this game's style almost immediately; Collect bonuses, weapons, and power-ups, and, obviously, blow things up.
That's it. Really.
Anyone familiar with the "Air Strike" series will undoubtedly have a sense of deja vu almost immediately, as precious little has changed between "Air Strike" and its sister, "Space Strike." Come to think of it, not even the name makes great strides toward individuality. Locales and enemies are different. As far as I can recall, the weapons are largely unchanged, and most bonuses/power-ups are the same. Obviously, rather than a helicopter, the player now controls a space shuttle of some sort. The graphics are somewhat nice, but I can't help but feel I've seen 'em all before. The sound and game itself are rather bland, however.
Think of this as "Air Strike's" little sister. And that isn't really saying much.
If you're dying for a space shooter, your time and money is better spent on "Jets N' Guns," or perhaps the "Star Defender" series.
In short, diehard shooter fans need only apply, but don't expect anything new or exciting.
