Where is the sixth star in rating?

Not too fresh (Original publisher, Microprose weasel out of business few years ago), but maybe this is the best boardgame adaptation of all time. I love original boardgame, and Risk II can renew this legendary game. The new Same-time mode is very unique and very funny. And the music! Tchaikovsky's classic is maybe the best background music, if you want to dominate whole world. If i want to say only one word from this game, then i say: PERFECT.

Solving the saving problem.

Many players who bought the game online, couldn't save their games. Well, that's solved now.

Risk 2 was previously only available on a CD, when the developers created the downloadable version they were unable to make the 'Save' feature work without the CD. All you need to do is create a folder called GameSave in the folder where the game is installed (Example: C:/Program Files/Risk II/GameSave). This will enable the save feature.

It workes with me now.
I think the game is very attractive and amusing. When you played it once, you can't stop playing it. And with all the different rules and gameplays it's really better than the boardgame. Altough, the sounds could be better. But the graphics are quite good.

I would really recommend it!

Risk 2 old vs new

Just got to say

This is risk and as such is a pretty great game, the AI functions reasonably well and its risk basically. Tried and testet and functions well.

Now they thought up something called same time action, which functions such that you choose everything you want to do, while the others do the same and everything happens at the same time. This is a pretty neat idea but in my view it doesn't work well at all. For this to work they had to change the way the dice work and instead of the 5 dice, they have just one and the rules aren't explained anywhere. Thus the rolls makes no sense at all and thats highly demotivating. Also i think the probabilities have changed since the originial way of doing it and its just useless basically.

That being said the original risk part functions perfectly and if you want to just play risk i can recommend this game.

Slightly Watered Down Version Of The CD-ROM Original

This is a nearly perfect rendition of the classic Risk game. Risk veterans will notice that it's very well designed and has tons of options that you can tweak to help you get the best Risk experience, just like the board game.

The battles flow smoothly, which makes the game a breeze to play. You can change the speed of the dice rolls, how the map is displayed, in game events, as well as various rules before you start the game. There is tons of replay value here. Players new to Risk may find this game a challenge until they learn a strategy that works for them. After that, the game will be too easy to beat when playing against the computer A.I..

The Reflexive version, minus a few videos and audio from the tutorial, is identical to the CD-ROM version. I'm not exactly sure why almost every game here is $20. Some are definitely worth it, others should really be no more than $5, especially considering the similar and often superior games they must compete with. Obviously Risk isn't one of them and is unique among the selection here at Reflexive.

One pro of this version is that you don't need the CD in the drive all the time to play it. One major con I noticed is that you can't save. Maybe this is a limitation of the trial, I don't know, but I was able to get the save function to work by taking a save file from my original version and copying it to the Reflexive version's directory and then loading it. After that, I could save games....Strange!

Finaly a REAL game on Reflexive

While most games of reflexive games are to me more "breaktime-killers" than serious games, this game is a very nice exception.

I am a Huge strategy & magegment-fan.
For me Civiliasations is the best game made ever.
Unfortainly of the many game's "saying" strategy in reflexive, most still will make me spend agonising ours of pointless clicking and very little managing.

But this game is Risk.
Yes, just Risk, as the boardgame, whith a bonus though.
One can choose to add a few terretory's to the map, or change the number of army you get for continets or cards.

Those minor tweak-possibilty's may look small, but they open the door for whole new strategic style's of playing risk, keeping you entertained for ours.

On top of that there is a special "all in one turn" version of Risk that is worth a try also.

All put together this game is perfect when you just want to play some good old Risk, whith or without a twist, thats your choice.

Where I delited all other Reflexive games after I finished their main story, Risk is still installed, since it will never become boring.

I would even go so far as to say, they should add this game to your "games" directory of your OS, instead of Patiance.

So when you look for a nice game, that will be worth its money and will keep you entertained between your classes, when the boss is not watching or just at home, buy this one!
