Risk??
The graphics and details are nice, however I can not see why anyone who has Risk II(incidentally also made by iwin) wouold want to buy this.
As I say the graphics are nicer than Risk II but campaign mode has been erased and as far as I could tell in my hour of gameplay there is only one level and objective. The only thing you can change is the computer players and their skill level. Definitely not worth $20 specially if you already have Risk II |

Not bad at all !!
My personal opinion is that this version of Risk is nicer than Risk II.
The action goes way faster and is way smoother.
The sound is very nice.
Grafix are simple but still very nice.
Game play is easy, just like the real game.
Some names are different than the board game but that can be different per country.
After a while playing i desided to let my self be the winning general.
I opened a new game and gave every country i possessed 99 armies.
In 1 turn i was world dominating hehe its funny.
But again for the serious players who like the board game i should say : PLAY IT its a great and not complexed game.
I liked it a lot.

Should one take the Risk?
Frankly, I was suprised too, to see a Risk (I) after the release of Risk II, but I thought maybe it's the first game of a new series. That's more than likely seems to be tha case, because this game has only one single game mode and one single rule set. Conquer the world, while trying to defeat other (hot-seat human or computer-controlled) generals. No Same-Time mode, no Missions, no campaign etc. A very basic adaptation of the board game. So why the so many stars, if it's such a big step back from the aformentioned Risk II?
Beacuse the graphics are nice - no globe-view or battlefield though. The sounds are somewhat better, there's even a narrator, who narrates every little move. It can be either annoying or some nice addon, depends on personal taste. Personally, i liked it. And the most important thing: the game doesn't cheat every second, massacrating ten or even more times larger armies with "magical only-six-can-be-thrown" dices. Sure, the five-star generals tend to be miracously lucky even here, but the AI has now more tactical knowledge than pure luck. And for me, who likes to place good gameplay above shiny graphics, this fact means quite a lot.
Final thoughts: If you want to play Risk with some friends on a network, buy Risk II. If you want to play alone against a good computer player, I recommend this one. And I hope that there will be a sequel which has the missing game modes and rule sets. |

I take a risk again...
At first time i was surprised. After Risk 2 Reflexive released Risk? Not too logical step. I check makers and i see IWin... Hmmm... (I know IWin "made" Risk 2 too, but Risk2 was only a re-release of Microprose's Risk 2.) Hmmm... This is not prequel of Risk 2. This is a whole new Risk adaptation? Let's try!
I love Risk boardgame (and almost all bigger boardgame) and i'm happy every time, when i can try a new adaptation. IWin made a good work, but nothing more. I missed new rules (example in Risk 2 was Same-time mode). This version is a good adaptation, but if i play with a boardgame on PC, then i wait something new, a little plus. But this version not contains this little plus.
Graphic is good for a turn-base strategy, but not revolutionary.
Sound good, but i turned off speach after twenty minutes...
Gameplay is perfect adaptation, but what i say previously. Exact rules adaptation, but nothing more.
Summary: 4/5
Ps.: A little message for programmers: i wait a good Clue (aka. Cluedo) adaptation from long time... |

Best Parker Bros. game ever
Parker Brothers have made some of best dice-rolling games like Monopoly, Game of life etc. But RISK is way ahead in terms of gameplay. Based on the very core we have great digital adaptation for PC.
Games plays amazingly and has capability to engage player for hours. The AI is probably better if not best, which plays quite OK. Hardcore player will love this so do the casual kids, it has everything to be considered best game on Reflexive. |
