Riotball - Created for classic arcade lovers

If you love the high challenge and Arcade Room Sound effects, then, Riotball is the game for you. Once you get the hang of it, you're only a few clicks away from a high speed game with a very wild ball...Set the option for "some spin" or "high spin" for a Wild Riotball. The graphics are clean and simple. But, keep an eye on the ball because it seems to have a mind of it's own when you activate the enhanced features of the game. Good for short game breaks 15 to 20 minutes at a time. The average player should immediately set the option for "no spin" if they want to pass the first level. It sounds too much like an arcade room for my tastes, but invest in some headphones if it suits you and the rest of your household won't mind a bit.

Only Arkanoid purists need apply

Well, Reflexive's recommendation system has been insisting on this one, probably because it's the only 2D breakout I haven't sampled yet. So I did.

The gameplay is straight-up Arkanoid, minus the wandering drones. The game seems to reward you for "spinning" the ball, and I found that it didn't respond too well, as I leaned into the ball numerous times to no avail. Went to the options and set the spin sensitivity to highest, and still wasn't rewarded enough for the only risk that the game actually promotes.

Bouncing coins around for increased bonuses was a nice touch, and the absence of the sticky paddle power-up is a logical omission that keeps you from pulling a Mario to your heart's content. Very well thought.

Loved the pre-game rendered artwork piece, quite classy. The bricks shine in the usual Arkanoid way. The default paddle looks like somekind of croquet hammer, and I got the shaft a few times when trying to do some critical edge shots.

The sound was very... how do I say... intestinal? Why do sound people insist that breakout games make these silly squishy noises.

I had fun, but I certainly didn't have a riot.

Riotball

This is a great game and will keep you playing for hours.
The only down side to it is that there are not enough levels, after I finished all the levels I was left wanting more.
