For a challenging, more than the typical dash and simulation game....

I've been spending several nights playing this game and so far I am not yet bored.

When I started, I found the interface a little "alarming". There's so many information windows, lots of values and terms that I immediately tried to ignore. Well, I accomplished my five months without actually checking on every panels, fortunately.

However, as you continue with the game, you'd eventually realize that those information are very useful and that they are not that difficult to understand and to use at all.

The goals in the beginning seemed very easy and you'd find the slow gameplay to be a bit "excessive" but as you progress, you'd realize that the not so very fast gameplay is "necessary" especially when you are handling more than three restaurants and you have to accomplish the adventures.

What I especially liked in the game are:
1. Restaurant design. I was really happy when my layout actually worked and the "customer complaints" I received gradually decreased.
2. The cooking battle - merely because of the huge prize (that are very useful).
3. There's a story! It's not just like ordinary dash games where the intent of the player is to upgrade his staff and resto and reach the goal limit.

CONS:

This is actually a very fun game. Unfortunately, for one to be able to experience the "good", the trial period will not be enough.

Also, I wish that there's voice over during the story mode. It's kind'a a little... weird... seeing 3D characters without voices.

I can't remember any background music but I am very fine with the sounds of people eating. They soothe my ears...

It's hard to come up with a very effective layout for your resto. But when you did, it would feel like a very BIG accomplishment. =D

Buy?

I recommend. But of course, there's always a second opinion.

=) Gonna resume playing after posting this review. =)

Fantastic strategy game dying for expansion packs

Unlike that Hell's Kitchen dud of a game, this game is truly fantastic. I have this game, purchased elsewhere and whilst I am disappointed it took this fantastic gaming site to finally showcase it here after so long, I am just glad it is here above all else. The concept is simple; played The Sims 2 before? Like the Open For Business, you get an empty building and you decorate it all you want. Check out other tips from other websites for cheats so that you can just get on with the game, unless you want the thrill of achieving goals. I play it to run a restaurant, pure and simple and even without the goals, seeing the profit going up is just quite enough.

The graphics are fantastic. The food looks delicious, the cooking all quite authentic and the best had to be the sound; it really feels like a restaurant. Turn your volume up and hear the clicking, the wine glasses, etc. However slow computers will suffer and it is unfair to criticise this game purely on the fact your computer does not match the requirements needed to run the game. You get to hire/fire staff, yourself a chef too, design your own menu, get new recipes and all. It is more than a time management game; it is simply a game of commerce; how to do business. Whilst some aspects are not practical and is by no means perfect, for what it is worth, this game could be the beginning of a whole lot of fantastic ideas.

This game is dying for an expansion pack ala The Sims 2. More menu, more food, more characters, better graphics, more locations, etc. I am dying for all these.

Thanks Reflexive for showcasing a quality game here and it is worth every penny. Just make sure your computer meets the requirements.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall

I was SO excited about downloading this game! It seemed like a wonderful concept, and the graphics looked GREAT!

And boy, was I disappointed.

Yes, the concept is great. And even the graphics are neat.

But the game is way too slow, and when I speed it up, it "skips" frames almost painfully. Yes, this is probably my computer's fault. But still, the game itself is too slow when you play it on "normal" speed (which runs just fine even on my computer). And I found it also way too easy... I put hardly any effort in arranging anything in the beginning, and yet I achieved my first goals without a problem.

The sounds... To be honest, now that I think about it, I didn't really NOTICE any sounds in the game. No, it's not that they're non-existant, they're just nothing special. I wish there was some voice acting involved... some GOOD voice acting, I should add.

Well, arranging the restaurant is somewhat fun. But controlling all the aspects of the game seemed somewhat difficult. And unnecessary, since I managed to pass my first tasks by barely clicking anything.

Maybe someone will enjoy this game. But to me... it was about 259 MB of disappointment.
