Its more puzzling city...

A cross between Tetris, building and a mozaic making game?!

At first you'd not think it, but thats what Puzzle City is. A cross of three genres of puzzler, spliced together in this presentation. The question being, is it any good?

Gameplay its like a mozaic game. Shapes come up on a belt at the bottom and you insert them on gameplay grid. Building comes in with the placed shapes becomming homes, schools etc. Making a certain shape, a 2x2 square, will gain a powerup. Powerups are usual mozaic game ones like the hammer to break peices, a trash can to destroy them, spray paint to recolour and various others to slow, reverse or clear the belt or to bulldoze one of your buildings.

Each level has an objective which is fill a certain amount of space, fill the coloured zones with the appropriate buildings or make sure you construct a certain number of buildings of a certain size.

Does this all work and play well? The answer is a no.

Sure it plays okay and is entertaining for a time. But its very repetative having to fill the game grid over and over, and then frustraiting to wait for the right blocks to fill a gap or the power-ups to make them. Even on easy difficulty I found it annoying as the right blocks took ages to show up and the power-ups earned near useless in helping.

Graphically, theres two main points. Firstly, lag. The graphics are simplistic compared to alot of games, but they took ages to load and lagged gameplay, even on lowest quaility! Secondly, so much more could have been done with different buildings rather then identical blocks every time.

Sound wise, you get highly repetative "50's Diner" music all the time. I had to turn it off after a while as it got annoying.

Overall, while alot of people may like this game, more will dislike its repetative play. Its not a game I'd consider buying. I stoped playing before the end of the first level set as it bored and annoyed me too much.

Wow...I am surprised

I feel kind of dumb for absolutly loving this game after I have read the other reviews. I love the game play and the graphics, but than again I don't need super good graphics to enjoy a game, just decent ones. I can't comment on the sound because I never turn my volume on, but I can't get enough of this game. I love puzzle games and I feel like this is a great one. It's rare that I play a game until I finish it...I get bored when they stop challenging me, but I played this one straight through, it was great! Anyway...it's fun!

wishing

The description for this game sounded interesting, however the gameplay itself was lacking. I found it to be very repetetive. While the concept sounded fun, the strategy portion of the game is missing. This is a game that doesn't change much between levels. I can say that my husband gave me several irritated looks while the music played during my demo of the game, so that was a plus!
