Plant Tycoon - Dream Game

This game is the one. I've tried villagers 1&2, the food chains, salons and hotels, but nothing comes close to plant tycoon. It rally makes you attached to the game. I started to play it last week and I bought it right away. It was so exciting to play, especially when a pop up message tells you that you found a magic plant, so far, I've only raised 3 magic plants and I am out of money. I want to buy the soil upgrade from Isola, the gold one, for my special seeds. I'm just populating my popular plants and selling them for $67 to save money. I can't wait!
Pros: Great soothing music, game play - 5 star, graphics is great, game time - not repetitive and boring like others.
Cons: In the nursery where you sell your plants, the customers are very slow, and I just wish I can still sell plants even if I'm not in the nursery.
But all in all, perfect game. This is my first time to give review to a game because I was really impressed with this game, and so to conclude my blabbering, I recommend it to everyone. Buy the game and play it now, then you'll know what I mean.

This is not Virtual Villagers, and thank you for that!

I have played Virtual Villagers 1 & 2 & didn't like it, because there is a better game which objectifies controlling the lives of your sims and that is The Sims 2. Plant Tycoon goes on the same basis only in so far as the real time playing, and it is more similar to Fish Tycoon than Virtual Villagers. The object is simple; breed flowers and hopefully stumble across the 6 fabled flowers of Isola. But there is no cheet sheet, so you have to earn every dime to upgrade the soil, the water and even the tools. Along the way you have to catch some bugs to add to your growing bug collection, the duplicates of which are sold for money. The duplicate seeds may also be sold, if you have no storage space left. But it is not as easy as it sounds. Like in all starter business, earning enough to upgrade the soil is really difficult, more so when you have to buy vitamins, plant rescue formulas as well as ornaments to add to your garden shop, just so to attract buyers. And what picky buyers you have, all with symbols above their heads to which the game developers have forgotten to include a legend for us players. But never mind, you will understand some symbols. You may feel frustrated at first, especially with trying to upgrade the soil which is expensive but just a tip; start simple. All basis of a business begins with the simplest product and in this game, the cactus at $20 a pot does in the end help to buy you the upgrades. Don't sell cheap, and don't sell expensive either. The pricing of a plant is like a lesson in business. I learned a lot from this game, and after so many hours playing it, it is still interesting because I'm obssessed in finding those fabled plants and upgrading the soil. Oh yes, if there is an upgrade you will need, make the soil your first priority, then the extra seed storage and then the water. The scissors, not that important. But the gameplay depends on you. The graphics are beautiful, music soothing but the best? The longevity of the game. Excellent!

This game should be The Game Of The Year!!!

I absolutely, definitive adore and love Plant Tycoon!!
With the connection to Virtual Villagers 1&2, this game makes it an exciting mixture of growing and nursing plants, and selling them! But that is not all, you upgrade your tools and soil, make cross-pollinations and get new exciting plants, and the search for 6 magical plants begin!

The graphics are similar to VV and so are the figures that come to shop for your plants, with some interesting improvements, are just so nice!

Music are relaxing and the sound are brought from VV and fits perfectly to the game, and gameplay are great!

You really have to be patient to play this one, but it's all worth it!

The game's beginning soil is suitable only for the common plants.
Cross-pollinating different species produces increasingly valuable, but more fragile, hybrids.
Better soil will be required to support the more expensive and fragile hybrids. When you upgrade your soil, the benefit to your plants is immediate.
If your plants are steadily losing health, they are too fragile for the soil they are planted in. Try growing common plants until you can upgrade your soil.

If you want to see all the plants in the game, make an Excel sheet that has three tables. 1: first part of plant name down and across. In the fields put in what is the result type. 2: second part of plant name down and across. Put in the result type. 3: first name down, second name across. Checklist if you have seen a certain type of plant.

To clarify: I cross-breed a Citrus Maranta and a Fragrant Lemonbush. I put the result in Citrus column and Fragrant line. Result was Aureus. Then, on second table, I put the result in Maranta column and Lemonbush line. Result was Fanleaf. Now I see if I breed those two, the result is Aureus Fanleaf. I mark that up in the 3rd table, X in the Aureus column Fanleaf line. Later on it's easy to breed the plants you want.

You can determine how well you have priced your plants by how quickly they are selling. If they are selling rapidly, you should increase the price. If sales are slow, try reducing the price.

Pruning can improve a plant's health and value, as well as make it sell faster. Removing dead leaves, revealing obscured flowers and improving a plant's shape all require pruning. Be careful, though, since pruning cannot be undone.

The best thing I can say is " always" keep an original seed. It get's hard to do when you have so many that even 3 boxes won't hold them all. I keep one original seed in my seed box so that I can keep switching out for another one.

At first plant all the seeds you have because none of the seeds will show their parent plants so there's no point guessing. If there's a maple or tree type that sprouts use the growth formula on it to make it easier to self pollinate. There's a good chance it'll be a magical plant.
My first fourpetal maple was priced at $50 and had 3 seeds. And I just kept planting more and selling them until I had enough money for the better soil and an extra seed box fore I even touched on breeding.
For insect poison use it only on your most expensive plant.
For seeds keep at least 3 of each, one for breeding, one for self pollination, and one backup in case you mess up.

Changing your system clock to make plants grow faster should never be done! This is not a safe thing to do! It can cause system instability in your computer. It can also cause problems with other programs in your computer like email and your antivirus program.

If you NEED something to do while plants are growing, just go in the game menu and add another player so that you can run more than one player at a time and switch back and forth between them while you are waiting for the plants to grow.

You can also use chemicals to make your plants grow faster. This is MUCH safer than changing your computer clocks time. Once you find the Magic Plant that sells for over $400.00 a plant, chemical cost is not a problem.

Please do not listen to the people that say "Time-Travel" (changing your system clock) is safe. It is NOT!!!
Just think if you are on someone elses computer, like your mom and dads, and you really mess it up over a game, you are probally going to get into ALOT of trouble.

Use the game's speed settings to adjust plant growth to fit your schedule. Use the fast game speed only when you are actively playing or can check on your plants frequently, and Stop Time in the game if you will be away from it for more than a day. On fast speed, plants will be fully mature and ready for pollination in less than 1 hour.

I had 5 of the 6 magic plants and was stumped getting #6. Then, I tried something new. I kept 1 grown plant on the rack in the nursery alone, then used the mutation liquid on it until I got a new species. As luck would have it, a simple auries grass plant mutated into the 6th magic plant!
