A Little Hard On The Eyes

Since I was introduced to Richochet Infinity and fell in love with it, I decided to look for other break out games.
Nuclear Ball 2 is a breakout game. It has a pinball game twist to it.
If you ever played any kind of pinball game you'll get the gist of this one.

I did, however. But it was hard on my eyes. It had too much colors and I had a hard time trying to keep up with the ball because it seemed like the ball blended in with the ship's color and the obstacle colors. It made it harder for me to figure out where my ball was and where it was going. Even the power-ups were difficult to deal with. The angle was even harder for me to focus on. I just can't get use to this because of all the colors.

Graphics was ok. Sound--as usual was very irritating. Game play would've been easier if it wasn't so colorful.

If you can handle a lot of colors and love that pinball spiel then this game is for you.

Wow I only asked yesterday... :)

I only wrote a review about the first Nuclear Ball yesterday, suggesting that the developers should release a third in their 3D series of Arkanoids, as IMO they are by far some of the best, for game play and graphics (although Magic Ball 3 can't be beaten there yet) All three; Gem Ball, Nuclear Ball and Nuclear Ball 2 use the same power ups which is where I feel this second version is let down. The graphics are as good as its predecessor, with some new bricks and a new arena back drop and intro screen, but that seem to be it, which for most casual arcade gamer will probably not be enough for it to be a best seller. Reflexive's own Ricochet series has always been successful despite the relatively unchanged appearance due to the constantly changing power ups offered, and, after the first in the series, Ricochet Extreme, a level editor too, which has spawned a brilliant fan download site where thousands (and I mean thousands as well) of custom made levels can be downloaded for free.

‘Please’ Urse Games, add some more power ups and even a levels editor as I think this series of yours has got the best ball characteristics of any 3D arkanoid. (apart from Aqua Ball, where you can spin the ball). It's actually quite challenging; as with most 3D arkanoids the ball never seems to get fast enough for it to be challenging. (I went through the whole of the Magic Ball 2 series, including all the expansion packs as well as Boom Voyage, Adventure Ball, Aztec Ball and Roboball, losing only a few lives through stupidity more than anything else.

This series could ‘almost’ come up to Ricochets standards with just a few more elements (as mentioned above) added.

Check out my review of Nuclear Ball for more details about this new version as I do think apart from those few extras this is the same game (apart from a whole bunch of new levels of course. :) Still, being an arkanoid freak I will have to buy this just as soon as I’m able to.

p.s. Urse games, good
