An Arkanoid well worth buying

I have approaching 200 arkanoid games now. From my experience of playing arkanoids of both the 2D and 3D type, this definitely stands out as a worthwhile download and is one of those games I'll keep coming back for time and time again.

It may be a clone of that time revered classic arcade game by Taito circa 1974, but it's a well constructed game, with excellent graphics and enough originality about it to justify the casual gamer at least trying the demo to see what they think. It does have similarities with its counterpart Gem Ball, but is not the same. There are so many differences that it stands it's ground as an original. It's much better than Magic Ball 2 and most of the 3D clones that abound these days. In my opinion the only '3D' arkanoids that equal or better it are Magic Ball 3, (but only because of its amazing graphics and brick physics), Incrediball:The Seven Sapphires and Gem ball, with maybe a few others such as Boom Ball and Chaks Temple.

There is an abundance of originality in this game, such as the Crazy Ball (others have similar balls, but not like this one) Power Ball, Shooting Ball (yeah I know the Ricochet series has this ball, but I'm talking about 3D arkanoids) and also some unusual bricks like the cloning brick that gives you two ball for one (Adventure Ball has something similar, but this one looks better) and the ability to see some of the best power ups that are shown on top of some bricks.

I'd love to see another themed 3D arkanoid from this company as I think they have the right formula. Maybe something space aged or an underwater adventure. I do agree with some of the previous comments such as doing something with the static backgrounds. These could be animated to make it more alive, for example add some explosions etc.

For a 3D this has some fast game play that is lacking in most 3D arkanoids...

Needs more plutonium! But a great game nonetheless.

Serves me right for not writing a review on the day that I play the game, but I used the 2 minute second wind as a refresher.

This was my first forray into 3D breakouts, and it was quite enjoyable. Variations on themes are fantastic, but if you're gonna pick something as big as "Nuclear", that is, what kills people by the millions then you better have some major explosions goin' on, no?

Perhaps the name of the game plays up the nuclear aspect a bit too much. This is more of a "bust up the sokoban's warehouse" type game. I was expecting some serious fires to break out, some chemical spills, some radiation, but instead was served some crates and the occasional boom.

I can't help but feel that more should have been done with the game. There are these beautiful pipes along the sides, how about thinking outside the box and giving us some tube-travel time? The big-ball transitions are fantastic, giving some a good feel for the actual weight, much like Odama on the Gamecube.

The paddle is definitely interesting, and the controls are precise. The gutter is unforgiving as your paddle/bat travels at the cusp of the playfield, making not making your rendez-vous a costly ordeal -- but given the speed of the paddle, it's all good. Weird design decisions? Those red hooks along the sides whose only purpose is to close the gutter by way of a linked chain, slick, but not well done.

Very nice looking, smooth animation. A bit quirky on the sound and soundtrack, excellent variations from one board to the next and does a good job of not getting tiresome.

This game definitely warrants a more explosive sequel, I prefer their previous release Gem Ball.

Great for ALL Computers

WOW!
I was pretty impressed! This is your average breakout game but it is 3D! Well when i first downloaded it and ran the trial, It turned out to be 3D! Well my first thought of this game was "Oh Great!(NOT), Its a 3d game and my computer does NOT like 3d Games because they go slow." WEll 3d games usualy do go slow on my 256 (according to crucial.com) MB RAM Computer. HA HA HA. But then when i booted up the game and started playing the game, it whent just as fast as any 2D game!! And graphics were Not bad at all! Not only that, but the game only takes up 15.5 MB of Hard drive space!

This game is very good for your computer and amazingly efficeint!
