Soothing with a twist of challenge

This game has the same sort of objective as Zuma, Tumble Bugs, or Luxor but it puts some small challenges into the game play to keep things interesting. It reminds me of mixing Magic Inlay in with some of Big Kahuna Reef, and the shoot three game Luxor3.

Allow me to explain:

You have the hammer levels (inlay games use hammers a lot) that you get as you make more and more matches. The hammers allow you to break one, a few, or all of one color of pearl in your line. I usually save this for the very end. Kind of a finale to see your line disappear in great smashes!

You have the chained pearls that require you to match them first to unchain them before you can actually remove them. It's easy to miss these, as they are moving at a steady pace. (Kahuna reef and a few other match three games use chains as an extra challenge to their puzzles).

You have the coins to collect that appear in the middle of the game screen randomly. You have to shoot at them, and often the line of pearls moving by can obstruct your aim. (Luxor3 has vases that appear the same way in it's game).

This game has the ambiance music (mostly guitars). It's probably of the few shoot three games I've played where I didn't start shaking my leg in an anxious manner while panicking to shoot away the quick moving lines. I actually started to get a bit sleepy! (That is not a complaint though!)

I really loved the graphics. All of it was very appealing to my eyes and quite impressive. The backgrounds change with each level, and keeps thing fresh and exciting. The Celtic theme encourages the player that much more to relax.

There is only one option "Relaxed Play" - so that says it all. You can turn off the hints (good to keep those annoying windows from popping up) and you can turn down the sounds, music, or both.

All in all, I give this game 5 stars. If relaxing is what you want, this is the game to get. I'm off to buy this game.

THIS STRING OF PEARLS IS A REAL GEM!!

This Zuma style pearl buster is sure to surprise the more persistant casual gamers by delivering an experience that strives to be different and succeeds with simple and elegant gameplay.

Now, before I go ahead and review this game, let me just state that I've spent the better part of my day playing the line of Zuma derivatives here on Reflexive, and that I do concur that the top notch titles are in fact Atlantis Sky Patrol-, Luxor 3 and maybe even Sweetopia. That being said, let's move on.

Instead of going down the track of stressing you out with dramatic music for what is, in the end, preventing colored marbles from reaching a hole, Mythic Pearls sets a casual pace with an acoustic guitar soundtrack that is nothing short of soothing.

The initial difficulty level and lack of powerups might have some of you leaving the game before your 60 minute trial comes to an end, but the more persistent of us will be rewarded with extremely well balanced gameplay masquerading as a lackluster clone.

The orbs are beautiful, and the blown glass effects are completely believable. Powerups are acquired my making chains that include enchanted balls, while the single powerup (that I know to date) is a mythical hammer whose strength increases though restraint and combo buildup. This is a fantastic gaming element that promotes the use of the power-up as a purely "for emergency" tool.

The world of Tiranog offers you different paths to follow when presented with an intersection, much like in Svetlograd making for fantastic replay value.

Zuma genre fans should definitely pick this up and give it the time it so well deserves.

Mythic Pearls

I didn't think I would enjoy this game so much, I'm not really a player of Match-3 games; let me tell you , this ISN"T a Match-3 game and it isn't boring!

There is enough variety to keep one's interest without putting a person to sleep!

Again, I didn't have the sound up to listen to the music if there was any; I might note here for the game site not everyone can hear just because there is music to be heard!
