A basic Tower Defense without anything special

Monster Mash is one of the strangest Tower Defense style games I've played so far. Strange story, silly monsters and some weird a-cappella song as the only background music.

The gameplay is just like in all of these games, but faaaaar less interesting. You need to stop the monsters from getting into the village. You have all the standard basic towers at your disposal, with the usual upgrades, as well as some collectable power-ups to slow down monsters, increase the attacking speed of all towers and so on. The towers and their upgrades need to be build by a team of villagers, which also has to collect the power-ups and extra gold. There is only one such team, which makes things a bit stressful later in the game. Especially, since the team seems to forget it's orders every now and then.

The game is missing several features I've grown fond of with the last Tower Defense incarnations. Like targeting a specific creature, setting a target priority for towers or those "learning towers", that increase their performance over time by themselves.

Monster Mash is a very basic, very standard Tower Defense clone. And this is the reason, why the game gets boring after a short while - there is nothing special in this game, no new feature and not even a catchy story.

My advice: Take a look at Garden Defense for a very good Tower Defense game.

Quite Good

A tower defense game. There are plenty of similar games like Garden Defense, Master of Defense etc., and this one is quite extraordinary.

There is something that I like, and there is something new. For example, the villagers approach at the beginning of each wave CAN be killed when reached by monsters. In Garden Defense there is only health, while those in Master of Defense cannot be killed.

The Energy Tower is a brand new building. In the view of innovation, it is better than Garden Defense, which has no specially designed towers. The placement of Energy Tower allows more strategy to be used (this game is really strategic already).

The power ups, special weapons and mini-game are very original as well. You can't find them in many other tower defense games.

Though innovative, this game is a bit boring as it has no plots or stories. What does it takes to add a bit more words? If the programmers have thought about it, the game can be even better!

Hmm... Another thing, the graphics and audios and the monsters are... Funny? Silly? I don't like the humming music especially.

A good game overall. If you have a strategic mind, or like to see graphics for kids, sure, you can pick this game. Even if you hate those graphics (like me), this is still a considerable choice among games of similar genre.

Nothing Special

Graphics- Nice to look at but nothing special.

Sound- Be prepared to mute the music because it will annoy you to no end. Every level has the same music and it is all an annoying high pitched humming tune.

Gameplay- A pretty standard tower defence with nothing to really set it apart from any other games.

I found I can build up my "power up's" by playing the game until the boss round. Then I click on restart level and all the "power up's" I collected are there. After a few rounds I have built it up to 9 for each power up.

Build Guns and Lightning Towers along roadside, and basic towers around, making a circle leaving the centre for a energy tower. Make such arrangements in EVERY turning of the road to win.

Having one high level tower is usually better than several lower level ones.
