Something different

I am a huge fan of time-management games. But I am kind of tired of Diner Dash series. I am not even downloading the latest of them. It is not so exciting for me as before.

The things I loved about this game:

1) It's not about clicking, it's about planning. You know that your customers will order a cheese cakes and sandwiches so you are definitely going to prepare a lot of milk to make a lot of cheese. Or the demand on apple jam is high and your apples are restocked slowly, you understand that it is better to take the apple in advance and carry it with you for another apple to be prepared faster. And there are a lot of other examples.

2) You can't restart the level. It makes getting expert score more challenging. The good thing is that you can replay any level when you completed all of them.

3) You can be good or evil :) That is funny, not like in other games, where you're always good no matter what. Also it twists a story a bit.

4) Graphics and sound are just great.

Question that I have after completing:
I have there locked recipies and not maximum upgrade (2 stars), but I have won a mini-game each time I played. Is it on purpose? To make me interested in completing the game another thime?

Anyway, I just loved the game!

It's Magical!

Now, this one was a pleasant surprise.

Have you played Diner Dash? Or maybe Farm Frenzy? Or Sally's Spa, Jane's Hotel, Sally's Salon, Cake Mania, Wedding Dash, or maybe even Turbo Subs?

If you played ANY of these and liked it, you are very likely to LOVE Miriel the Magical Merchant!

The gameplay is your typical time-managment, and it is generally well-balanced. (Trust me, I know when a game is running too slow.) It gets a bit hard to get the master score after a while - but that just makes it all the more challenging for the dash-type game lover like I am!

The setting is wonderful, I love the medieval and magical feel to it. The graphics are very pretty, even though they don't follow the 3D-ish trend like a lot of newer dash-type games. For me personally, this is a plus, I like the cartoony look better, and this one also reminds me of japanese anime, which is also a plus in my book.

The sounds are cute, but nothing all that special. Not annoying, and that's important to me.

The most wonderful surprise in this game were the recipes! YES, that's right - while you play the game, you unlock REAL recipes, ones that you can actually USE! (Mostly for baking, I assume.) For someone who likes baking as much as I do, this was such a pleasant little bonus! I wanted to play the game 'til the end just to get all the recipes, but alas - the demo was over!

However, this game is a must-buy! I definitely recommend it, even to those who are getting tired of the same old, same old when it comes to dash and time-management kind of games.

An OK Twist

I'm not a fan of the time management games; too stressful for me!

But this one is a little better. You can plan ahead by baking things earlier or queuing up things you think might be ordered. And if you're quick enough, you can gain haste, which really helps...AND helps you get ahead by baking even more things at top speed.

There is a choose-your-own-adventure element, as well, but I'm not quite sure how much it changes the story.

Also, there's a small mini-game in between towns to help you upgrade your kitchens which is extremely easy (at least the three times I played it.)

The graphics are decent. I turn down the music instantly in almost all games so I can't rate that.

Overall, if you aren't time-management'd-out, this is a decent addition to the genre, but I don't think it really needed any more additions.
