On The Contrary...

To most others who reviewed this game, i must disagree with alot of focal points illustrated by reviewers who seem to either be trying to market this game as the best game they've ever played or, could either be family members of the people who made the game trying to give it a kickstart....

To start off with,
The translation work (I assume it was in Asian before being adapted to English) is shocking.

Lines such as
"Let's close them way from mountains! It is realy hard mission. Last mission! Good luck."

And

"You're the master! People are now free of endless intrudings of evil monsters! You're the real King of your Kingdom!"

This simply does not sit well with me.
If You want people to pay good money for your games you should make sure that little aesthetical things like this are addressed.
After all, this game relies heavily upon presentation, and to allow something like this to slip through Quality Assurance is rather silly.

The Sound is fairly atrocious, consisting mainly of 1 sound sample to signify the monsters entrance into the map.
After this sound the mosnters never make another sound.

The music is also sub-standard, usually a 10-15 second loop of medieval-esque melody that is repeated.

over
and
over
again.

Fortunately, as with most games, you can turn down the music and have your own music in the background =]

The modelling of the monsters is 3D but simple, a short sequence that is looped as they walk along the roads.
Nothing special, it does the trick though.

Now i'm not gunna leave this on a sour note, i still bought this game for a reason.
The gameplay is solid and satisfying.
I've gone back a few times trying to keep my villager population at a maximum. There is great urge to want to keep your townsfolk safe and strategic placing of towers plays a huge role in achieving this goal.

Download it,
Try it,
I'm pretty sure you'll grow affectionate towards it.
7/10 (saved by its gameplay)

True original strategy game - worth buying

This game is fresh, original and fun. Monsters go along a defined path, and you have to maximize the efficiency of your towers by way of type and location. It really is all about strategy.

Once you have a good strategy down, the initial level of the game is a breeze to go thru. Fortunately, there are unlockable levels that do present a challenge. You also get a score at the end of the game which entices you to go back and maximize that score.

The game lets you save between each wave of attacks which saves you the frustration of having to start from scratch whenever something goes wrong. In addition to the money you get for upgrading your towers, you get experience points that you can spend to unlock features and further upgrade key elements of the game.

On the downside, I object with other reviews and will say that the music gets REALLY repetitive and annoying. There is a different track for each of the levels, but they all consist of a 15 seconds melody that loops over and over. I prefer games that offer one great track throughout the game. The game also lacks polishing on the translation side which is a shame considering the quality of the production. Finally, sometimes monsters will get stuck in place by an ice tower and not receive significant (if any) damage from it, and although you can increase the speed of the game, sometimes you have to either wait minutes for the monster to shake out of the tower's area of effect or build a new tower just to destroy that particular monster.

Worth purchasing, good replay value considering the unlockable levels.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS
Tip: Put at least 1 point in Ice towers as soon as you can.
Tip: Save BEFORE you spend any money

Quite a nice surprise for a convinced TBS non-enthousiast.

The review.

  • I've been a fan of strategy (RTS) games ever since i played the demo for the first Command and Conquer game demo somewhere back in '96. The genre has been oversaturated since then with alot of bad titles to show just that. Turn based strategy games on the other hand never got my interest. It's boring, without any decent action and above all, not fun at all. So when a friend pasted me a link to this game, I was very hesitant to say the least. Online reviews made it interesting tho. Would this game be any fun? With some doubts I started to play. At first it was a bit weird to get into the TBS world again, and the concept seemed very alien to me, but I have to say... It totally surprised me. As you place your towers (with its own characteristics) along a path, monsters appear from a starting point and try to make it to the end of the road and try to kill your population of 100. And thats where your towers step in. Place them strategically, upgrade them accordingly to give them more power and make sure those monsters don't make the finish line and you end up with as many townspeople as possible. Sounds easy? Yes. IS it easy? Heck no. As the waves of attacks continue each round, monsters get tougher, faster and more resistant to your attacks. Fortunately with each wave of attack, you gain experience points which allows you to enhance your defense. Fire towers, Ice Towers, added poison to further break down enemy defenses, resistance for the townsfolks so they can beat off some of the scum that got through and an array of extra tower upgrades.

    The good

  • Easy gameplay, and a huge addicting factor. Very decent gfx for such a small game.

    The bad

  • Just the sound bugged me. But you can disable that and play your own stuff. So thats not really THAT bad.

    The verdict

  • This game had me hooked after a few rounds, and I'm definatly considering buying this one. Fans of RTS or TBS games will have a hoot with this one

Sell towers in the last Raid of each location BEFORE THE RAID IS OVER to get gold back so that you can get more people. Since every 100 gold at the end of each location converts into another inhabitant, the trick here is to know which towers are not needed to get rid of the last few monsters...becoming a master at this is important to mastering the game.

You can activate hidden "Blood Mode"
To enable it, open "Settings.vdd" file from game's folder with any text editor and set "DeathMode=1" instead of "DeathMode=0". Save file and viola, monsters will leave blood pudles instead of flying souls :)

Towers are the key in this fantastic strategy battle game. Upgrade the towers that you already have before you purchase more. An upgraded tower, placed in the best location, is much better than two zero-level towers in any location. Also, you can sell towers in the last raid of each location to return gold and employ people!

When the Sorcerers come out, try to destroy them first. They heal nearby monsters from damage.

Be sure you choose the right place for your towers. The good places are between two tracks when you can hit monsters on two sides. Another good place is in the middle of turns where tower has the monsters in range for much longer time. Note that fully upgraded land tower can have pretty good range and could cover several parts of the road. Be careful that it could be useless until fully upgraded so make sure you have enough money to upgrade it without suffering significant loses due to tower unefficiency during the beginning of the development.

  • save every 5 lvls... DONT save all lvls some times you need to change or save some longer than 1 turn

  • get fire for the floor first that wil stop the first ground ataks for the first 5 rounds.. when they get pass a fire just build an 2nd one and an 3rd this will ceep you good for next 10 lvls

  • try ger your fire power maxed so it wil put extra dmg to your towers to shoot at air things

  • dont build plants befor that or spend money on poisone

  • get ice towers next

  • than do poisone

I personally never use plants. I group Ground, Air and Ice towers together and it is a necessity. Upgrade Ice magic and Ice towers to freeze monsters, then blow them up with ground and air towers.

  • Place all towers on a spot that can reach two (or more) places at once. Be sure to upgrade them from the start to at least level 3 (there is usually money available for that.) so they their attack radius is covering several areas. (Try to anticipate the maximum amount of radius the tower will cover so you can place them the most strategic. If you fail at first, restart the level.)

  • Place a land tower at the start and a plant tower on the further path. That way the landtower will take out the bulk of the enemies which the plant tower will have some more difficulties with. Don't bother with airtowers, plants take out both airial and groundfoes.

  • Get the icetower magic asap and get an ice tower to each and every tower you build. This will vastly increase your damage rate. (Upgraded ice towers do physical damage without towers too)

  • Try increasing the people's resistance and gold income first. Gold income will allow you to get more cash out of killed monsters and people resistance will deal with monsters that have 150 health or more left.

  • And the best tip of all that allowed me to finish the game with 89 townspeople left, is to upgrade one tower to the max, and not to put several towers with a low upgrade level. One tower with level 10 does far more damage than 15 towers with level 1.

When you reach Legend Mode, there is no save button anymore. To have a fighting chance, exit the game. If you continue the game, it will pick up where you left it. Excellent if your first defense and spent money doesn't seem to be efficient enough and you want to re-arrange.

The best tip i can give u is put up land towers first at the entrance of the monsters, then build a plant tower nearing the end of the trail, then upgrade ur plant tower with every money that u have.. once u have defeated the first few raids, upgrade the plant tower again and again and build beside it an ice tower and upgrade it as well. this will surely guarantee u success and more gold. just repeat the strategy for every level, making sure u win the rounds without losing a lot of people.
