Letter Lab needs to be (DEMO)lished.

The demo version is all I could stand to experiment with. Letter Lab is certainly a snooze of a game and one of the worst releases I've seen hit this site in quite some time. It has a catchy game title, but really there's nothing else that makes you want to keep playing. I will be completely honest and say that I played through 5 levels before I just couldn't get into the game enough to keep on going. I tried hard to give it a chance.

I absolutely love word games. I own just about every kind of word game out there and play them daily. I play Reader's Digest Super Word Power almost daily to challenge myself with word knowledge and I have to say that I am really disappointed to see so many words that this game just doesn't recognize as an actual word!

I don't advise anyone to buy this game unless they are buying it for a 2nd or 3rd grader. That's about the level this game is aimed at really. Anyone with a better word knowledge would feel a bit insulted to indulge in this game for any length of time. I hate giving bad reviews, and really try not to, but this one couldn't be helped.

Overall Score: Thumbs Down
Sound: Annoying
Graphics: Comic Book Style - Non-animated.
Game Play: No Challenge (Kid Oriented)

That's it?

When I first saw this game, I thought oh wow great! Finally another game for us word wizards. But when I downloaded the game, it took me a whole 30 minutes to beat the entire game. Now, I like the concept the game was trying to go for in the story mode, but the problem is that there isn't too much of a story line to follow. You have a total of something like 15 to 20 levels - and then that's it - you've beaten the game. It was a real disappointment for me: not all that challenging and just not enough levels. Just isn't worth purchasing in my point of view.

I know it's a word game, but....

...That's basically all it's about. The game plays like Boggle and Word Craft but you have to use the word in the middle to create a word. Sounds challenging? In a way it is because sometimes the grid gives you letters that makes it impossible to create words from.

The object of the game in arcade mode is to come up with as many words as possible to get to the 100% mark before the professor does. If you can't, you have to start over which sometimes is a plus because like I said it sometimes gives you a grid where it's impossible to create words.

I played 14 rounds and discovered that that's all there is to the game. Once you win it gives you a story line and you start over from scratch.
I will admit it does take the time away and it gives you the opportunity to see how many words you can come up with but that's it. There's nothing else. No bonus, no awards, no nothing. This is where I think an improvement should be made. I know it's a word game but spice it up a bit. Make the demo downloader want to buy the game instead of playing till the time is done and remove it from the computer like I sometimes do.

It's hard to make a word game have that spectacular graphic appeal so I guess Freeze Tag decided against it. The sound effects are annoying as usual.

I think it's time to take this game back to the lab and do more experiments in order to make this game more appealing.
