Do not purchase this game. The developers must have brains made of swiss cheese. The level 3, aka map 4-3 is impossible to complete. The hearts for the house which cost an enormous amount of money (800) disappear quicker than the houses can earn the money. Also, there is not enough time to even begin to earn the required amount of $70,000, build enough houses to bring in that kind of income (including the amount needed for furniture, etc.)and you can't even get close to buying the bank and if you do you lose money because you can't get the amount needed to upgrade to two trucks @ 35,000 and you wind up being unable to collect rent. And why do the tenants get to discourage so quickly they move out and you have to spend time replacing the furniture you provided when they stoled it when they moved out. The houses set totally gutted.
Don't waste your time or your money on this loser until they tweak some of the stupid bugs out.

Too many conditions to fulfill.

Lately I've seen largely time-management games coming up on Reflexive and other sites like BigFish. After a while, despite the games themselves being different, playing nothing but time-management gets old and not to mention, hurts the wrist.

I think there are way too many conditions in this game to make it fun for the player to progress. I'm fine with the necessity of utilities for a town to run proper, but gifts for tenants?
Not to mention the time given to complete each round, way too short when it reaches higher levels in the game. Perhaps there are some bugs in the game?
The interface can definitely be improved. The game requires selecting menus and a ridiculous amount of clicking that will only result in the player acquiring an RSI.

I like a good challenge, but it needs to be fun as well. Overall, the fun turned to frustration in a very short time. Not good.

Tips & Tricks for 'Jane's Realty':

For this cheat to work, first you must:

1.Have Microsoft Excel installed.
2.Change your computer's regional settings list separator into a ";" instead of a ",".

A)To change the list separator:

Click on Start, go to Control Panel

Click until your inside Regional and Language Options

Click on Customize

Change the list separator into a ";" (you can do this by highlighting the "," and press ";" on your keyboard.

B)Changing Money Values:
1. Right click the shortcut icon for the game and choose properties.
2. Click on "Find target..." button and you will be directed to the folder of the game.
3. Double click on the folder "data" to go into it.
4. Inside the folder "data", there is a file called mapBalance_arcade for Business mode and mapBalance_casual for Design mode. Double click it and you will open it with MS Excel.
5. Once opened, you are supposed to see the values in separate columns. On the 2nd column is the value for money that you start with for every level. So, just change that value, save it. When prompted, just say yes. And next time when you start that level, you will start with the money that you put in the cells.

Cheating like this makes you insanely wealthy, yet it makes this game a bit boring. In your Windows Explorer go to C:\Program Files\Janes Realty\data. There you will find the file called balance.ini. Open the file with your text editor. Then look at some numbers you might want to change. (You decide which ones you want to change.) You might make the game super difficult, if it is not yet difficult for you, or you can make it so easy, you might want to go to sleep after 10 minutes of playing. If you forget which numbers you messed up, worry none. Just reinstall the game and then try messing with that little file again. If you are not sure you can do that, ask someone who can.
