Why I wont be buying any more Hyperballoid until........

I used to love the hyperballoid game. Okay I still enjoy playing it, but after spending over $170 on the original game and most of the add on packs (up to the Fantastic Flowers Level Pack), instead of waiting for the mega packs. I reviewed the game constantly, making 'not impossible' suggestions and with repeated requests to change or upgrade the power ups, which basically haven't changed since the original game, unlike Ricochet Xtreme, Ricochet: Lost World and Ricochet: Infinity which has metomorphosed into the best ever arkanoid.

I repeatedly asked for a levels editor using Richochet as an example of why they should....I actually got a reply from the developer saying it would be too much like hard work to produce an editor... All this reply did was make me realize that the developer wasn't a gamer themselves, they were just taking us for a ride...milking the game for all it's worth. Well they have squeezed it dry in my opinion. It is still a beautiful looking game, with excellent graphics that have stood the test of time. I still marvel at some of the level sets, but find I soon stray away from playing it because there is no real challenge any more. The game has become boring, and trying to get those last bricks is always so frustrating, especially if you've accidentally picked up a slow ball power up. (I always avoided them as I thought even on the fastest setting the ball didn't go fast enough).

I also suggested that they took a leaf out of the Breakquest developers book and create an options menu where you have much more control over the power ups. Being able to select what power ups you wanted out of a much larger selection, which included bat changing power ups and a much better library of ball shapes and characteristics.

(Edit: 19th Nov 07 Every level apart from the free packs are now available for $20 from Reflexive, plus an extra previously unreleased level pack. You need transfer the free levels DAT files from the complete edition.)

Not so great...

This breakout game isn't that good as I thought. I almost liked the gameplay, but in much levels there are very very little bricks that you must destroy. The music isn't that great but it's a little boring. Also the gameplay is boring because the levels are way to easy. The next reason why I don't like this game is because if you almost finished a level, there falls a "next level" powerup. I don't like it because it feels like you're playing levels without finishing them. The graphics are normal. If you like breakout games, then you must not download this game but Ricochet Recharged. And in late July, Ricochet Infinity will be released.

Neverending story

I like this game. Arts are nice, live and very funny sometimes. And I like the idea to have 20 packs for the price of one game. Bonuses are different; some of them obviously borrowed from other breakouts, but overall selection is good. Sometimes I use this NextLevel bonus box, when I get bored trying to break the last brick. Anyway, game is very enjoyable.

Easy to play, and a lot of fun!
