Hyperballoid 2 Review

This brick-shooting game is excellent in many ways, except one that I didn't like at all. There is a slight game "bug", where you still can lose the ball, if you're right next to the "end-level-wall" (left or right). I haven't seen this in any other game like this and it's a shame. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's still unfair. It also lacks a "Mouse Sensitivity" option.

Except from this, the game has many original levels (with some inspiration from "Ricochet Infinity") and many, many power-ups that will make your gaming experience unique.

You can also download many FREE new level sets from within the game, with just a few clicks.

Many power-ups have improoved since the first game (like the dum "droid" and the inaccurate "target"), and also the bad save system is OK this time.

I believe that this is one of the best 5 brick-shooting games out there (since now). I'm waitting for "Hyperballoid 3" with even more crazier power-ups !!!

THE MOST SOLID 2D BUSTER YOU'VE SEEN IN A WHILE.

Hyperballoid 2: Time Rider is quite possibly the only contender to measure up to the Ricochet series in the high-res 2D realm of brick busting! It's been quite a few months since we've seen a good brick breaker, and Hyperballoid comes crashing through with a title that shatters and impresses.

With 44 power-ups, bricks and backgrounds that jump off the screen and less-than-annoying motion, this is a varied experience that spans over 4 worlds.

This almost has nothing to do with the original Hyperballoid, and is a leap ahead much like going from Luxor to Luxor 2. The power-ups are abundant within a single level, but not so much that you'll clean your plate in one assault. The Crosshair power-up is an addition that makes the recent trendy "gravitational pull" power-up seem like a defunct feature.

Downloadable Tracks are available through the Advanced menu and can be downloaded on-the-fly without shelling to your operating system. The music is brilliant, making use of a lot of acoustic samples, sometimes lulling, and sometimes pulse-pounding. It's great added value, but the absence of a jukebox will have you relying on your ears to determine which tracks are actually new, something you won't be able to do within your demo time.

To top it all off, there's also a level editor allowing you to put together your own playground of brick-mayhem.

This is the 2D brick-buster to look out for. If you didn't hear Hyperballoid the first time, you'll hear it loud and clear in this second coming.

Speeding up the ball does not necessarily means harder gameplay, but finish your level more quickly. Catch them if they are available in late game where there are few bricks left.
