Short but sweet

Graphics
For an online game I thought this game had great graphics, it didn't rely on them, to steal the show but instead had a great 'quirky' style to it.

Sound
Quite plesant background music which added to the whole atmosphere of the game. Could however have been slightly more varied

Gameplay
I found the game simple to grasp, and it didn't involve complicated instructions but instead a short tutorial which I found very useful. Some aspects were however clunky, eggs were hard to click on as you had to be right over it, with nothing in front for it to work, very difficult if your on a particulary fast pace level. There were also some mistakes that suggested the designers were being rather slap dash with this game. For example ground walking animals appear to be walking above flying ones, an obvious issue with forground and background images.

Overall
Overall I found this game very enjoyable, however I was disappointed with the surprise ending for the easy level (whats the point). This game only took me a day to complete so I would suggest that the game should be much longer, or harder than it was

Deceptively Simple

This game is quite easy to pick up, with a good tutorial and simple mechanics. I thought I'd play it once or twice and then get bored with it. How wrong I was! Three difficulty levels, each with a different ending, a variety of "easter" eggs with special benefits, and the challenge to play "just one more time" to try and beat my personal best have kept me coming back for more, and more, and more!

Nice graphics and music, cute pets and a great forum if you just need a few tips combine to make this a nice way to spend some spare time.

Incredible!!

I loved this! It is a bit hard to win if you don't know the tips and tricks, but it's a blast! It's really addictive. And all 3 modes have different endings.

Tips & Tricks for 'Grimm's Hatchery':

  • Tip: Each egg has a 1 in 6 chance of hatching.
  • Note: Your difficulty level determines what your pets are worth. In Easy mode, pets are worth 70% of their purchase price, in Medium mode, 60%, and in Insane mode, 50%.
  • Note: Pets that lay eggs you should sell usually lay eggs at the fastest rate. However, these fast egg layers require more maintenance, so you will need to feed them often and keep them safe from monsters.


    Pet Zapping Hints
  • Blue dragonfly Egg Green dragonfly egg = Green dragon egg
  • Red dragonfly egg Gryphon egg = Ruby gryphon egg
  • Red dragonfly egg Green dragon egg= Purple Dragon egg
  • Gold dragonfly egg Goose egg = Gold goose egg
  • Gold dragonfly egg Icebird egg = Firebird


    Getting the Lightning Rod
  • The Lightning Rod is a secret weapon that is not available in any store. The Lighting Rod is so powerful that it will kill a monster with one click. If you perform some good deeds for a merchant's sisters, he will sell the Lightning Rod to you.
  • In Pemberly Keep, take the ruby ring.
  • Give the ruby ring to Metilda and she'll be grateful.
  • Buy an Ice Gryphon from Hatir in the noble sector. (Again, I'd recommend buying 2 or 3.)
  • Go to Pemberly Keep and collect the Ice Gryphon eggs that the Ice Gryphon(s) lay.
  • See Metilda's sister (Genevieve) and offer her one Ice Gryphon egg. (You only need to give her one.)
  • Talk to Aldab and choose the gossip option. He'll mention that you have been generous to his sisters and will now reveal his secret stash of weapons. Then choose buy items and you should now see the Lightning Rod available for purchase.

    hey buy a toad sword from aldab and than chat with hatir.hatir wants the sword and negotiate with him.he gives you defensive pet.it works a lot too.

    save time before you hatch your eggs because when you load you can hatch more(less too) pets from same amount of eggs

    Special pet (Petriwood) is #95, you can ONLY HAVE ONE. More than one will not work, as they will not show up in the hatcheries.
  • How to Mod this section---

    You can type in whatever number of pet/eggs you want in this section. The only difference is with the Petriwood, he can only be a 1 or a 0 (On or Off).

    Disclaimer

    Backup your save game files to a new folder/archive before modifying them. While the changes I am giving you are completely safe, it is not worth the risk to your save game files if YOU make a mistake in changing the files.

    File Location
    =============
    Save game files are located in the Grimm's Hatchery/Hatchery/gameScripts/Saves folder. Each save file correlates to a save slot in game, even the autosave feature (though don't mod that). Save1 through Save5 are ok to mod.

    File Structure
    ==============
    The setup of the files looks like this (not the entire file is given here, just an example):

    Note that each grouping of numbers is separated by a space! That is key to remember! If you make a change to the digits, make sure they are in the same format, or the game will crash/hang/not read the save game file.

  • How to Mod this section---

    it is actually easier to earn money by hatching the eggs and selling the pets rather than just selling the eggs. pets costs more than eggs, so take some time to hatch all your eggs and sell the pets, leaving about 1-2 pets and selling the rest. you'll find that you earn a whole lot more money that way

    This game can be played on three difficulty settings - Easy, Medium, Insane. The difference is the number of days you're given to raise money, and the amount you get when you sell your pets.

    As strange as it may seem, if you're finding Easy mode tough going, be brave and step up to Medium! That's right... Medium difficulty gives you a range of "easter" eggs that aren't available on Easy, and that actually HELP you look after your pets - you spend less money and collect more eggs! Of course, the mother of all easter eggs is reserved for Insane mode... but I suggest you conquer Medium first.

    The mean issue of this game is when you will buy food.

    In poor sector (Sometimes works on Insane level) sometimes you will find a glowing star near the man whom standing when you will click on it you will earn 9 , 8, or 7 tokens.
    and olso look at left side of the poor old man , you will find a bag of grain .
    If you didnt found one of them or both of them go to the map and go in again and try it many times and it will work.

    You will realise that as you go the time will be increased with each day passing, but you have to keep in mind that you must set a good strategy to make the targeted money as there will be more temting oppurtunities to buy things, Only buy what you need. and make sure to set a targeted amount of money every 10 days so you will reach the amount needed to release the castle before the limited period is over.
    You will also find monsters that will constantly try to eat your pets so try to use a strong weapon to kill them fast. Your pets will get hungry from time to time so try to feed them before they die or else you will have to pay extra money to replace the lost ones.
    Finally, you will be able to put an egg in the hatechery ( incubator) and if you are lucky enought the egg will hatch into a pet, other times the egg will just be considered rotten and you will lose it. so think carefully.
