Im Lost in Beautiful Space! Flatspace, That is!

OK! To start I must say that this game is absolutely great! This is by far, the best game I have played for YEARS. But, to start, I have to correct some hookups.

READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE LOST!

OK people, there is, in-fact, a tutorial. The tutorial can be found in the directory you saved it in and is a really simple one. If that doesn't help, you can start up a game and hit F1 to see what the buttons do.

Now! To the Review:

Graphics:

The graphics are very satisfying and will never leave you thinking "whaa? Whats that supposed to be?" They are so good that at times, you'll be thinking "WOW!" And there isn't a incredible amount of repetition of ship colors and so forth.

Sound:

The sound is really distinguishable, from the sirens of the police, to the tunes of the background. After time, you'll even be able to tell what kind of weapon the enemy is using before you see him!

Gameplay:

The gameplay is perfect. Its a perfect mix between an old game called gazilionare and a space shooter. The game is also open ended, but at times it can leave you thinking on what to do next. But it lets you be so many different things: a trader, a cop, a bounty hunter, an assassin, or even a scavenger! Whatever you want to be, chances are, you'll be allowed to be it!

Overall:

This is a perfect game to get for anyone that likes open-ended games. Its the perfect all in one package! Whatever your wants, chances are, you'll find it in Flatspace!

A Little Too Realistic

I consider myself an experienced gamer who is no stranger to space sims. I love trading and combat games like Elite and Freelancer, and so Flatspace II seemed to be right up my alley.

This game is very deep, in terms of variety of ships, missions, trading points, and enemies, but any enjoyment I might have derived out of this depth was completely overshadowed by how hideously unforgiving the game system is.

Pirates abound in space, and in true pirate fashion, they do not hesitate in attacking you for your cargo. The problem is, there is absolutely no curve in enemy abilities to ease you into the game experience: you are likely to encounter veteran pirates with vastly superior ships and weapons in your first moments of gameplay while you still have the stock ship equipped with a pea-shooter. Not that it would matter much if you did have comparable equipment and experience: all ship controls more intricate than docking are a matter of luck rather than skill, which is pretty much the opposite of fun when it comes to combat.

It wasn't just the usual enemies that I found so frustrating, however. I found my ship being instantly crippled and/or destroyed over and over by seemingly inconsequential things, like accidentally bumping into a police ship which then proceeded to vaporize me. Instant death is not a bad thing in an action game, but a space sim this unforgiving should be reserved for NASA training, not a casual game.

In short, what promised to be a fun space trader turned out to be a lesson in frustration that I could not uninstall fast enough.

Very good game

At first I thought that this game was like any other space fighting game for example Jets N Guns GOLD,Star Defender 3 and any other space fighting game. But when i played it i found out that this is not only a space fighting but also a trading game. But i really did a mistake in buying it at first but i also think that you should play the free demo at first but who knows may be some of you will like it. Remember to play this game it is very good.

As a Police Officer, start getting money by killing wanted criminals with death bounty on them.
Get some money and buy a Stun Gun, so you can stun their ships and capture them (Use the radio, then 2 and 3). Target the life pod and hold the middle mouse button, then deliver em at a Police Station.
Do that and start searching for top ranked criminals.
Don't forget to buy a Radar and a Scanner with hyperspace tracking.

How to 'Destroy' for Smallest Ships

The crucial equipment

Thruster: Make sure you get the Sunspear 2X with 120drive. This will enable you to avoid misslies easily, also to fight the best.
Radar: Get the widest one
Scanner: Anything
Flare: Must have.
Weapon: Anything, but not the flamethrower. The flamethrower looks rather like it's for destroying station and big ships.
Shield: Useless. Better save the space for weapon.

Single/Non aggressive enemy
make sure you stalk close behind then unload your weapon to destroy him as quick as possible. You'll use least ammos and arms in this way.

Single/Aggressive enemy
If the enemy ship attack you first with the fatal laser and stuffs, try to run away until his energy runs out. Go back to fire him at this time. Without having to hit-and-run fight, you'll find that you save a lot of ammos and shields.

A Bunch of pirates or polices
If you face horde of enemies at the same time, run out of trouble first and let them fire you. Then they'll shoot themselves and get destroyed. When there're two or three spaceships left, go get them.

Destroying the Space Station
This is possible after you're a bit used to this game with upgraded ship. First you fire the station until it send the fighter ships out to destroy you. They can be as much as 12, so what you have to do is run away. Apart from loads of laser, you'll have to avoid missiles. If your ship equipped with Sunspear 2X Thruster, you don't have to flare the missiles so that you can save them following you to destroy their own space station. You run around the horde of fighters until their lasers destroy themselves. Shoot some who remains and then go back to destroy the vulnerable station.

The smallest one such as Scarrid Hideout would take you 1-4 minutes depends on weapon. Only missile suggested is the one with 100000 damage, while the other of 200 or 350 would only waste your money.

Cops:

1) Starting off as a cop is your best bet for survival.

2) Using a Stun gun will make you very powerful if you are a cop. it will make you only stun enemies then you can radio them and cause them to surrender

Be careful while attacking Alien Ships, since most of the time you attack one all the others on the same map go after you to help the attacked ship.

Buy at least an armour which gives you 30~40 per ton and try to let at least 2 ton free for a shield (WarHawk Shield, something like that), if you can afford the space.

A good tactic against missiles is 'slooping' your target, attacking it from behind. When it launches missiles, try to keep behind the enemy ship, and when the missile is almost hitting you, turn right or left (depending where the missile is located).
This will make the missile hit the enemy ship, damaging it severely, since it's from behind.

When you change your ship, I advice you to buy a countermeasure (Razor Flare Launcher) and the Razor Flare Boxes for it, since the missiles will follow you until it hits or you use the Hyperdrive.
