Casual friendly, coffee break dungeon crawling!

I've enjoyed Fastcrawl immensely for several months now. Fastcrawl allows me to customize each game I play to be the perfect length and difficulty for an easily distracted, easily bored person such as myself. If you're in the mood for a long, tough game you can easily customize it that way, but if you're like me and want to slash through a 15 minute dungeon romp, this game will cater to your tastes perfectly. A unique feature of Fastcrawl is completely random game generation. You literally never have the same experience twice. Each game has new characters of several different classes, new dungeon layouts with several floors, new weapons that have cool bonuses, new enemies, a new quest and of course, plenty of challenge. The graphics in Fastcrawl are nothing ground breaking but they do suit the mood very well and add to that old school dungeon crawling feel that I love. The music selections mesh nicely with the overall tone of the game and give it quite the epic feel. Fastcrawl comes highly recommended from me and I'm quite excited to see what else Pawleyscape will do with this product in the future. According to the forums on their website, the ability for user modifications may be right around the corner...and I can't wait for that! Fastcrawl already has vast amounts of replay value because of its random elements, but with user mods, the community surrounding this game could be amazing. If you enjoyed the demo, you'll love the game -- two thumbs up!

Good old days...

If you love roleplaying games that remind you of the good old days of gaming and board game Dungeons and Dragons, this game is for you. If you simply want something to pass the time away during a coffe break, this game does it too. This game is simplistic, easy to pick up and learn basic RPG that will keep you going for hours, or waste a good ten minutes.

The interface system ispoint and click or click and drag you'll learn in seconds even without the tutorial. Very easy to understand and follow, you'll know how to control this game and work everything in moments.

The gameplay itself, for an rpg, is very simplistic. Your team is pre-picked and you can't customise them beyond how they level up. But remember it was designed to waste away a coffe break, so you don't want to spend forever customising an entire team. The dungeons are randomly generated every time and have a large variety of equipment to specialise your character.

The graphics and sound, while maybe not state of the art, are clean and crisp and exactly what you'd expect to hear and see for the relevent action. You certainly won't be getting annoyed by repetative annoying music or dull sound effects or finding your eyes hurting from garish or blurred or too dark to make out text or other screens.

If you want a simple game with roleplaying elements that you can rush through over and over again in mere moments, this game is for you. But mere moments can become many hours as this game will keep you involved and wanting to play through it again and again. If your expecting a deeply involving roleplaying game you can spend hours developing a character and their backstory with this isn't for you.

Overall I'd highly recomend this game. At least check out the demo before deciding if this game is or isn't worth it for you. You won't regret it.

Who needs epic?

This is it! Finally, a RPG dungeon crawl that doesn't demand hours and hours to complete. I play many RPGs and prefer those which are different each replay. Fast Crawl lets me experience the randomness within the hour rather than spending hours only to restart anew.

Sure, it's quick and the dungeons don't go deep, but the main appeal is the demand of new strategies each time I play (try three mages and a thief...that was a challenge!). Add the random drops from treasure and fights, and you'll find yourself switching styles and strategy on the fly.

In RPGs, I prefer playing a single character over a group. FC doesn't bother me at all with its team of characters. Why? It's not really role-playing. The plot is simple and the characters with their equipment won't be reused on the next game. It's more like a card game with a map, IMHO.

The sound is not bad at all. The music changes so as not to become monotonous. The sound effects are simple but fun (a character dying is almost amusing). The graphics are what I'd expect from a desktop game. The characters and monsters have decent pictures (which again remind me of cards), and the equipment varies enough with special icons to add some flavor.

Coffee break? Try coffee pot! After the demo, I bought it right away and played into the night. Next to Fate, this is the second best $20 I've spent on games. The replay value will keep me replaying, and replaying, and replaying...
