Mummy won't be too happy...

Unfortunately there isn't much new under this egyptian sun.

The graphics are passable - I haven't played any breakout games that attempted a 3d look to them, but I liked the idea.

Gameplay was the same as every other breakout game.. attempt to destroy the objects by bouncing a ball off your paddle, and by catching various powerups you can do more damage.

I played the first 5 levels and while it's quite possible things get better, I'm not going to find that out.

Perhaps it has something to do with my widescreen notebook display, but I frequently found the ball would fall straight through the edge of my paddle instead of bouncing off it. To me this is a critical flaw as players should be able to use the full paddle width to help direct the ball in the direction they want it to go.

The background music didn't seem to change much during play, and although it had an egyptian theme to it, I just found it too repetitive and it quickly became annoying.

I think the developers could do more to make this game more playable. Apart from fixing the ball/paddle connections, the process of starting and restarting a game is clumsy and frustrating. A simple 'start or play' button is all most people need, along with a 'back' or 'menu' option to change the settings. Having to reselect everything each time is annoying - especially after the game ends because the ball fell through your paddle again.

I think the level design may need a little work as well. Level 5 contained a section that was almost entirely surrounded by unbreakable blocks, except for a small access point near the top on the side. The access was obstructed by several bricks that required multiple hits to destroy - a difficult challenge for novice to medium players so early in the game.

In all, I would suggest looking at Reaxxion if you are after an original breakout-style game, as this one sphinx.

That said, it won't cost you anything to download it and try the demo for yourself.

original

Egyptoid is a perfect blend of classic Arcanoid with the magic of Egypt. Its a original game but there is too many brick buster game so i am bored of them. Traveling through 72 never-the-same levels, your objective will be to destroy various patterns of blocks by bouncing the ball. In doing this, you must keep an eye out for bonuses that can speed up or down the paddle, give an extra life, extend the paddle or make it magnetic. Featuring 8 spectacular worlds, 17 types of bonuses, Egyptoid is bursting with arcade fun!
