Pilgrims are cheap. So get a good bit and upgrade to Witch Doctor to Wizard and then to ark mage they take away moves from the enemy.

Lay Sisters are healers but when upgraded they are even
better enchanters. Upgrade to fully to saint it should be
easy to figure out. They make good witches but they cost a lot more than the pilgram.

Militaman is hard to say but the knight is really good but hard to upgrade to. So your 1st upgrade is important. The Warder makes 1 hard hitting mace man. When infantryman have a good Variety swordsman is my favorite.

I don't have a lot on the hunter but after the 1st upgrade you have 3 choses I like the assassin. I've yet to find the bowman. Hunter cost a good bit so I tend to keep pilgrims in the back field.

I hope that helps you a little and I'm still working on the cannon man and the cavalry. The pilgrim to the ark mages are the way to go and with the enchanters you can't be beat even with a bad front line.

The other thing is for people who have got discouraged. Don't get a lot of hunters in your back field they cost to much get 1 at the most. And don't walk around and collect taxes. Have a purpose.

On some missions try to take as many castles as possible and fight as many as you can at 1st but make sure you look at the # and type of enemy you are going to fight before u fight. Don't fight the undead unless you have a good back support with pilgrim base allies that have death protection. When u figure out what a death knight is stay away unless you have very good back support.

Pros : Deal Massive Damage, Curse Enemy
Cons : Expensive

Take 2 Lay sisters and 2 Pilgrims (or 1 monk and 1 Witch Doc which you can get to start with instead of the lower stage). You shouldnt need any front soldiers to assit you. Also remember the more people in your party the more the Exp is shared. For the Lay Sisters you'll want to rank one up till she gets to Holy Sister and the other to Witch. Ok now the Pilgrims, I've already stated that one needs to become a monk and one a Witch Doc, or hire them. from them make the monk a Bishop. (Do not make a Inquistor) For the Witch doc of course get him to ArchMage.
Now for the reasons why.
1 - Holy Sister, Having two wont help since they cant attack. They have a great healing and Buff spell.
1 - Witch, Having 2 means no healer, substatuding an extra Lay Sister for a Pilgrim means no Life damage for undead.
1 - Archmage, Takes away 2 manevuers most of the time with high Magic power.
1 - Bishop, Massive Life dmg against undead and high resistance to Death magic.
Remember all of these characters get 2 turns unless an item states other wise.
Also remember these characters take a massive amount of gold to maintain. So if you are having trouble maintianing pay put them in a castle for a while till you have a sufficiant amount of gold. If you dont have any castles to get gold from... how did you rank up to being with? Also remember the caslte income is put toward paying your army first, so if your income is +120 and your pay to your troops is -320, then youll only be paying 200 per day.

Em, I've played War in Ramen kingdom with knight and ranger, but i found ranger to be more powerful than knight in later part of game. It all depends on what equipment you use.
I've completed War in Ramen Kingdom with only 3 people in an army. A Ranger, A Mounted Knight and An Enchantress. Of course, you will gain massive experience if you put only a few people in your army but need a strong tanker and a strong backup to ensure safety. A good selections of equipment will provide usefulness throughout the game.

Oh yeah, a useful tips for equipment - Since the game can only permit one special feature for an item, u can always alter whichever special feature you wish for a character.

For example, if you want to use Token of Knight "Penetrating Hit" along with Pavis (Which have "Long Weapon"), put your Token at the Lower Right Box for the equipment, and Pavis at some other boxes. The Lower Right Box is the dominant box, if you want the desired special feature to appear even when using overlapped specials.

So the Recommended Equipment are therefore :

Token of Knight (Action = 1, ++Hand Attack,++Life, Penetrating Hit)
Amulet of Celeritas (Action = 2, Initiative = 18, Evasive)
Warlock's Ring ( ++ Magic power, Rash Attack)
Token of Archmage ( ++ Magic Power, Rash Attack)
"Black Crossbow" ? Gives 100% Shooting Attack, Rash Attack, -40% Initiative [Forgot the name - but a very useful and cheap bow for an archer, u can forget the Sharpshooter Bow(+10 Shooting Attack, Rash Attack) and Fire Arrows(Penetrating)]

For me, the best combination of army would be
1st Rank(Front) - 2 Mounted Knights
2nd Rank(Back) - Enchantress, Ranger(Hero),Cannoner, Archmage

choose a Knight(hero) and hire one pilgrim and one lay sister

1: always accept hunters gifts instead of money tributes(in the citys)

2: if you need to pay 0 to units its only quest needed soldiers ... you first want to go find city and get allot of cash befor increasing the payment thingy

3: dont use priest spells ...gold is more usable

4: just buy all armor and weapons if you got money for it( all soldiers and monks things can wear it (armor)

5: dont buy spells

6: attack all enemys you encounter

7: capture all the castles you find

8: buy monks that can attack form backslots

9: equip all the items you find or sell if ALL wearers wear it

10: ?????<($-$)>?????
