DDD Pool

The graphics in DDD Pool are pretty good but the one major problem is the computer player. Even on Easy he's very hard to beat sometimes. Although it may just be a seeming lack of skill on my part, there is almost no difference in my opinion in the difficulty levels. On Easy the computer will still make 3-4 perfect shots and then usually will purpously make a stupid move, like hitting the white ball only a few inches (which I assume is because of Easy). When you play the computer on Hard, he not only makes the shots in one shot, usually, but he'll do some tricks and incredible bounces.

Sometimes the main menu's buttons don't respond to clicking and that music is very annoying. It was a good idea to put no music in during the game.

Another thing I found annoying was the rules. There are no options to turn them off, which means you MUST play with rules. So if you hit your opponents ball first on a strike, its a foul and he gets an extra strike.

It was an alright game but generally speaking too unbalanced in its difficulty and lack of options menu or something like it.

Pot Shot Hot Shot

This an excellent little pool game.

the graphics are very crisp and clear, with a choice of different room backdrops. The graphical representation of the balls and the table are of a very high standard, with the shadows and the reflections of the light on the balls being very realistic & effective.

A special mention also goes to the ball & table physics. It is very accurate. The feel of speed and power to the shots are very well paced.

There is also the option of applying english (screw back), and topspin to the ball. This is also well handled, as you cannot put a deep screwback on a ball that is bang up against a cushion or an adjacent ball.

The only letdown is the lack of an online mode. If this was included I could see this game being very popular indeed. My favourite game of pool is 'Sierra Cool Pool', but without the online play it would be relegated to the back of the closet. DDD Pool surpasses Cool Pool in every respect, but is let down by the lack of an online facility, and for this reason alone I am afraid it will have to lose a few points.

I do not want to buy the pool table anymore.

I am serious. This game is that great. It has totally replaced the pool playing experience for me. I see the following advantages of this game:

1. It does not occupy any room in my household. Even if I bought a pool table, I guess I would have had to use it as the dining table. Does it not sound silly? There is no room for it. I said it already.

2. It does not cost as much as the actual pool table, which is over $1,000.

3. It is much easier to play than the real pool. With me not being a good pool player, this one is a life saver.

Etcetera, etcetera…

The disadvantage is: I can’t buy this game YET. I have to buy a new computer first.

Someone here said that it is almost as good as the real pool. I say IT IS BETTER THAN THE REAL POOL IN A NUMBER OF WAYS!!!
