If you know how to play...

It's a good game! If you don't know how to play cribbage, then you really need to find an online tutorial for cribbage. People want to make cribbage more complicated than it is, but really - it's kind of like playing POKER. You need to have some math skills too but only addition. If you know the value of the cards (same as poker) and how to add - it's as simple as that. 9+6=15, 7+8=15, Ace+4+Jack = 15. Runs are simple a sequence of cards such as 1,2,3. For a run of 3 you get 3 points. A run of 4 you get four points. You get points for flushes as well! Picking two cards out of your hand means you are disposing of cards that you don't need, and you hope your opponent cannot score off of, because you are giving those two cards to your opponent for their "extra hand" to score from.

Those who enjoy cribbage will enjoy this game. Don't use this game as your tutorial for learning. It will run you through the jist of how to play this QUEST, but not how to play CRIBBAGE. You're assumed to know how to play cribbage if you download this game.

The graphics are OK - nothing spectacular. I expected better, but the idea of the game was neat. The sounds were about the same level as the graphics to me as well.

All in all I give the game 4 stars because it does well in it's intent. If you expect this game to teach you cribbage, don't waste the time downloading it. It will only frustrate the beginner player that much more.

Good Cribbage game with a few shortcomings...

I am a huge cribbage fan. I love playing it in real life, and just like with the Nertz game (also a Reflexive production), I was excited to see a digital version of it appear here. Unfortunately, this game falls a little short of my desires.

Firstly, the music is entirely too bombastic for such a thoughtful and intelligent game. Might as well turn down the sound and listen to your own classical mix. Secondly, the snide remarks of your opponents get tiresome instantly. Thirdly, the so-called adventure mode is nothing more than a bad story wrapped around a repetitive version of the single player game.

However, the game does have its good points, too. It is an exceptional simulation of the game of Cribbage, which, if you are unfamiliar with the game, is INCREDIBLY hard to play without a good tutorial. Thus, if you aren't already a cribbage player, DON'T TRY TO PLAY THIS GAME without checking out a decent tutorial website first. Otherwise you will miss out on the fun of playing this fascinating and intricate game.

Quest For The Golden Dud More Like....

I adore cribbage, in real life and as a computer game. I've played lots and lots of versions of Cribbage, which is why this one is just extraordinarily BAD. First off, there is no tutorial on how to play the game of Cribbage - so Cribbage beginners are automatically shafted from the get go. You have to already know how to play the game before you can even start to play this one! Doesn't exactly make for "gaining new fans" by the game-makers, does it?

Second, there is no level of difficulty to choose from. Right away I was thinking it would be a fun version if a little cheesy, but I was very wrong. This game piles the good hands onto the computer players and the human player gets a decent hand once every ten turns or so. Which means the human player can only win once every ten turns or so. This level of difficulty is generally known as the expert level in other Cribbage games, so there again, beginners take ample warning. You will be hearing quite a few insults from the computer players through this game.

Third, ummm, what quest?!?!?! There was none. It is a straightforward game of Cribbage with a few lines of typewritten boredom in between hands. There is no point to winning or losing, no point to the Master Hand points, really no point to anything. It's almost like the company was planning on making a quest game out of it...but forgot to put the actual quest in the game before cranking it out.

Overall, the graphics were simple and unimpressive even for a basic card game, the music fit the quest that should have been in the game but doesn't fit what the game actually wound up as at all, and the gameplay is rather clunky for there to be so little involved in the game. Even for die-hard Cribbage fans like me, this game is a total waste of time.
