This game is like the hook from the Hookman
When I started playing this game, I too was under the impression that this is just another search game that orders the player go around looking for various item for no reason what so ever. Well, I was wrong; therefore, the following will be a clear analysis of Campfire Legend: The Hookman.
The Graphics: There really isn't much to say about the graphics from a reflexive arcade game, most of these SeekAndFind game seems to hire the same group of artist to do their artwork with slight modification; but for the record, the graphics looks okay. And since I don't usually gets so picky with graphics, I'll move straight onto the point. The game occasionally tries to scares you via a quick moving shadow or a cat jumps at you, which is to say the least, unmatched even to a straight forward linear story element such as the Hookman.
The background music: lacks complexity, the developers seems to favor the "silent is gold" tactic; personally, I see it as an excuse to slack of on making good background music.
The game play: the game play is quite challenging and complex; as I have explained earlier, most of the item you find actually goes some where. But on the other hand, all you do is put the items you find down at a specific location at a specific order......right up till the second half of the game; that's when the game starts getting good. During second half of the game you'll be finding puzzle pieces, which makes me feel I'm doing something as oppose to running someone's errands. The game play is not without it's flawed, unfortunately. At one point the game ask me to fetch specific woods and specific stones when there are abundance of those near the lake. At one point, a severed hand wash ashore near the lake and the game prompted no comments or interaction, as if the hand wasn't even there......did our protagonist had such serious case of tunnel vision?
Oh......the game is also a bit short. Despite what I said, I still recommend it, look forward nex |
